Mindblowing music
Thereâs not just one iconic song from Dreamgirls but several that are guaranteed to have you jumping out of your seats to applaud or reaching for the tissues as the tears stream down your face. The music moves from toe-tapping, claptastic stuff thatâll have you dancing in the aisles to undeniably moving songs as the Dreams climb the ladder to success. âAnd Iâm Telling You Iâm Not Goingâ, âI am Changingâ, âListenâ and âOne Night Onlyâ are the iconic numbers but theyâre not the only ones thatâll impress.
Alternative to panto
There are some cracking pantos in the city this year but if pantos arenât your thing, or you want see a few shows for a theatrical festive feast this year – and why wouldnât you when itâs so good to be back in front of a live performance? – Dreamgirls makes a fabulous change from the slapstick and silliness of panto. A trip to the theatre is the icing on any (Christmas) cake over the Yuletide period and Dreamgirls is on at the Empire from December 14 to January 1.
Glitz and glamour
Dreamgirls has got more sparkle and sequins that the Trafalgar Square Christmas tree, from the flamboyant and fantastic costumes to the stunning sets. Itâs a crystal encrusted production – even the heels of the actresses’ shoes are adorned in beautiful jewels! So as well as the tissues, it might be worth stashing a pair of sunnies in your bag! If you want a spectacular – this is it.
Itâs empowering and uplifting
The moral of the story is never to be afraid to dream and believe in yourself, and as we head into the New Year, thatâs not a bad mantra to repeat to yourself for a great 2022. Girl power is prime in Dreamgirls, and itâs a show thatâs filled with energy, passion and love that make it massively uplifting so you leave the theatre with a song in your step and hope in your heart. And what a great Christmas pressie to give yourself!
