Duke Street Market foyer to become drop-off point for struggling hospitality workers

Duke Street Market is encouraging the people of Liverpool to donate non perishable goods including toiletries, dried foods and long-life items
The team behind Duke Street Food and Drink Market is opening its foyer from tomorrow (Thursday 19th March) to house an industry drop off point for struggling hospitality workers during the Coronavirus outbreak.
In light of the recent news, millions of jobs within the hospitality industry are at risk, and with mass redundancies a serious possibility, as well as reduced hours and pay cuts, the market has vowed to help people struggling in the industry.
Duke Street Market is urging people local to the Liverpool area to donate non perishable goods including dried and tinned foods, toiletries and long-life items to help those who may be struggling during this uncertain time.
Matt Farrell, one of Duke Street Market’s directors, said: “We’re really hoping that the government are going to offer further clarity on what this devastating time means for those who are self-employed or work in the industry and how jobs can ultimately be protected. Redundancies, reduced hours and pay is inevitable and it’s tragic. We want to do all that we can to support people within the hospitality industry who may be struggling during this time.
“Duke Street Market’s foyer will be open as an industry drop off point and guests can donate anything they think that will help someone in need. They will be able to leave the goods in an area and have no contact with staff at the market to adhere to social distancing guidelines.
“We really hope that the people of Liverpool can pull together to help those who are struggling.”
Duke Street Market is affiliated with Graffiti Spirits Group – one of the leading hospitality brands across the North West.
Graffiti Spirits Group has many brands under its umbrella Bold Street Coffee, Maluco Pizzeria, Slim’s on Bold Street are all offering delivery services and contactless collection.
Directors of Graffiti Spirits Group, Matt Farrell and John Ennis, are exploring ways in which other venues can house drop off points, as well as offer further food delivery services to support those self-isolating or adhering to social distancing guidelines at this time.
