Easter treat at the Playhouse as Around the World in 80 Days kicks off in Liverpool

This Easter, the Playhouse will be the first port of call for a returning production of Around the World in 80 Days, before embarking on a voyage across the Atlantic to New York.

From 17-20 March, Phileas Fogg invites audiences to travel around the globe in a production set to delight both children and adults, without leaving the comfort of the Playhouse.

The mysterious and fabulously wealthy Phileas Fogg wagers his life’s fortune that he can circumnavigate the globe in just 80 days. Join Fogg and his loyal valet Passepartout, as they voyage from the misty alleys of Victorian London, to the exotic sub-continent and the Wild West, in a race against the clock.

Directed by Theresa Heskins, an ensemble cast of eight play over 125 characters in an imaginative and physically inventive high-spirited escapade including six trains, five boats, four fights, three dances, two circus acts and an elephant!

Andrew Pollard (Phileas Fogg), Michael Hugo (Passepartout), Pushpinder Chani (Mr Naidu), Kirsten Foster (Mrs Aouda) and Dennis Herdman (Inspector Fix). They are joined by Nyron Levy (Captain Speedy), Joey Parsad (Miss Singh) and Matthew Ganley (Colonel Proctor). Stefan Ruiz completes casting as part of the ensemble.

Brought to Liverpool by Kenny Wax Productions, Around the World in 80 Days visited the Playhouse in 2017 to great acclaim. This year, the show will make one more stop in the UK in Salisbury before heading to New York.

Gemma Bodinetz, artistic director at the Everyman & Playhouse, said: “It’s not often we bring back a show so quickly to our audiences but Around the World in 80 Days was such complete delight the first time it came to the Playhouse we couldn’t resist.

“It’s full of wit, physical dexterity and theatrical invention and is truly a show that will please young and old alike.”

Around the World in 80 Days is on from 17-20 April.

Tickets are on sale now and available from the website here.
