Ed Sheeran, Becky Hill, The Script and more play M&S Bank Arena Liverpool for Radio City’s Hits Live

Stars turned out at the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool yesterday to perform at Hits Radio’s star-studded event Hits Live.

Ed Sheeran looked in great health in a white t-shirt as he performed again for the first time on home soil after having to isolate with Covid-19.  The singer sang to a sold-out crowd, playing his hits including ‘Shivers’ and ‘Bad Habits’.

Joining him at the event was Becky Hill, Mabel and Fleur East who delighted fans by making a surprise appearance during The Script’s set to perform their hit ‘Hall of Fame’ with them.

Tom GrennanElla Henderson and rising star Mimi Webb also performed for the sell-out crowd.

Years and Years were originally on the line-up for this evening but switched to perform at the second Hits Live event that takes place tomorrow in Birmingham. Tomorrow’s event also sees the addition of The Wanted who will replace Jesy Nelson after she tested positive for Covid-19. The huge line-up for Hits Live in Birmingham also includes Rag’n’Bone Man, Anne-Marie, KSI, Becky Hill, Tom Grennan and Dermot Kennedy.

Ahead of his amazing performance, Ed Sheeran spoke backstage to presenter Fleur East about his upcoming Christmas song with legendary musician Sir Elton John, revealing the music video is the best he’s ever filmed! After humming part of the upcoming new song and revealing a line of “I know there’s been pain this year”, Ed confirmed the music video is a parody of East 17, Shakin’ Stevens and The Snowman.

As if that doesn’t sound amazing enough, Ed exclusively told Hits Radio the one and only MR BLOBBY will make an appearance!

If you’re a fan of the singer, you most likely witnessed Ed’s recent Instagram upload where he was wearing a Christmas dress… The singer told Hits Radio he was initially due to be Mr Christmas herself Mariah Carey, but unfortunately they didn’t get clearance so had to scrap the idea.

Despite not detailing an official release date for the new single, Ed did confirm fans will be able to hear it in around two weeks’ time!

Gary Barlow, Dave, Stormzy, The Wantd and more are all heading to play Liverpool’s M&S Bank Arena and you can book your tickets here.
