It’s looking like being a great week with a ton of stuff going on in the city as we head towards another Bank Holiday weekend.

Smithdown Road Festival’s 10th anniversary

Smithdown Festival

A fab one to start off with! Smithdown Festival’s celebrating its 10th anniversary with music, DJs, family fun, arts events and more at venues along Smithdown Road and Penny Lane between Friday, May 2 and Monday, May 5. It’s all happening in support of The Whitechapel Centre, so you can have the best time and raise money for a great cause.

New bar ‘Ours’ on Castle Street

An Ibiza style bar is just the thing for a lazy Bank Holiday weekend, so why not soak up the music, the chilled vibes and the Mediterranean-style food and cocktails from new bar Ours in Castle Street? It’s the latest launch from city tapas team So Salsa.

Beetlejuice and Hunt for Red October star Alec Baldwin and William Zabka – Cobra Kai and The Karate Kid – are among the star names at this year’s Comic Con Liverpool. It’s always a talked-about celebration of pop culture and fandom with Q&As, stage appearances and cosplay creativity that just gets bigger and better every year. It’s on at the Exhibition Centre Liverpool and M&S Bank Arena on Saturday and Sunday, May 3-4.

Takeaway is on now at the Everyman

Phina Oruche in Takeaway at the Everyman

If you love a laugh, Liverpool actress Phina Oruche is starring in a new comedy at the Everyman Theatre. Takeaway follows the story of a recently-widowed mother who runs a Caribbean takeaway as she and her two daughters come to terms with the huge changes in their lives. Catch it from now until Saturday, May 17.

Sound City’s famous for giving us the newest exciting names in music as well as a shout out to those set to make their mark; and as well as some great music on multiple city stages, the Sound City+ Conference on Friday is stacked with discussions, workshops, masterclasses and networking opportunities.

It’s an earlier kick-off for the women’s teams with the match now starting at 12pm this Sunday. The Barclays Women’s Super League game’s being played at Anfield and, whatever team you support, it’s going to be an exciting fixture as the Reds’ final home game of the campaign and the final away match of the season for Brian Sorensen’s Blues side.

Eurovision - The Guide Liverpool

Get ready to twist and shout to the sounds of the ‘60s with Merseybeat tribute band Searchin, as they recreate the ‘Riverboat Shuffles’ on board the Mersey Ferry. Expect all the classic hits from The Beatles, The Swinging Blue Jeans, Gerry and the Pacemakers and more as the river gets rocking!
