EE teams up with Beatport to bring the UK’s first hybrid, 5G powered club night to Liverpool

EE has announced the launch of the UK’s first hybrid, 5G powered club night, EE x Beatport Presents Parallel, coming to Liverpool on August 12 and Manchester on August 19.

The hybrid club nights are a celebration of local DJ talent, giving electronic dance music fans the chance to enjoy dual DJ performances live; either in person or over a 5GEE powered livestream.

The two events will be hosted at iconic nightlife venues in both cities over two weeks and will shine a spotlight on local music talent, both established and emerging, for dance music fans to enjoy.

Each epic night of dance music will be heightened through the power of EE’s award-winning 5G network which provides the low latency and superfast speeds needed to seamlessly mix two live sets together, without missing a beat.

Liberté Rooftop

The first Parallel night will be hosted in Liverpool across two separate nightlife venues – Liberté Rooftop and Matou Roof Terrace – bringing together local Liverpudlian legends, DJs Yousef and Lauren Lo Sung, with special guest James Organ (Liberté Rooftop) and Melé and Siân Bennett, with special guest Baxter (Matou Roof Terrace). In a UK first, and an exciting twist for fans in attendance, each DJ pair will tag-team live via Liverpool’s best network across the two venues, providing an electric night not to be missed.

EE x Beatport Parallel live in Manchester will be held at the iconic Mancunian venue, Hatch on 19th August. Headlined by Hot Since 82, with DJ sets from DJ Paulette and Massey (Sprechen), levelled up with 5GEE powered virtual performances from Neil Diablo and Gina Breeze, intermixed live from across the city in a secret location and beamed into the venue in real-time.

For those that can’t get their hands on the limited tickets and don’t want to miss out, EE will host an immersive music experience in the heart of each city over its award-winning network. The performances will be beamed live in 4K 360 quality to custom-built 5GEE VR outdoor pop-ups situated at Church Street in Liverpool (12th August) and Spinningfield Square (19th August) in Manchester. To spread the love of music across the nation, the one-off live performances will be available to livestream online for free here.

Pete Jeavons, Marketing Communications Director at EE said:

“You’ve got to be able to trust in your network for the moments that count. EE x Beatport Parallel will see us put our network to the test – using our real-life 5G network to seamlessly mix live sets together from two different locations, without missing a beat. The music industry has had such a turbulent 18 months and it has affected cities across the country, so we’re excited to be working with local talent in Manchester and Liverpool to bring back the music, and make some history as the UK’s first hybrid, 5G powered club night.”

Kicking off proceedings in Liverpool on 12th August, Yousef said:

“We’ve got such amazing talent in Liverpool, and this one-of-a-kind gig is giving us a whole new way of entertaining fans. I think it’s going to blow people’s minds. I’m always excited to be embracing technology to bring music to even more people and I have no doubts EE’s 5G network will see us through the night without missing a beat. I can’t wait to make a bit of history!”

Speaking ahead of his performance at EE x Beatport Parallel in Manchester on 19th August, Hot Since 82 said:

“It’s been very difficult for our industry these last 18 months but I’m super excited to be honest. I’ve collected so much new music and I can’t wait to play it all out. Not many people get to perform live in two places at one time, and this is a 5G first for me. I’m going to be bringing everything to my performance, so it’s going to come down to that 5G to show-up. I guess the main challenges are stability and low latency, to keep the magic in the DJ set from both venues alive.”

Ed Hill, VP of Beatport Media Group said:

“At Beatport, our mission is to connect electronic music lovers with the world’s best music via the very latest tools in technology. The hybrid 5G powered club night that we are spearheading with EE will be a world first. We are incredibly excited to be able to deliver seamless live sets from two different locations with some of the hottest names in dance, for a back-to-back experience that is set to redefine what is possible in the live events space.”
