Everton Park’s Out of Blue Music Festival turns 25 this year

This year celebrates the 25^th anniversary of the very first Out of the Blue Music Festival which took place in the newly created Everton Park. This year’s festival will be taking place at the top of Everton Park (Rupert Lane Site – off Village Street) which hosts the most amazing views of our city. The event, which kicks off at 12 noon will feature sets from some of the best up and coming bands and musicians as well as a range of activities for the whole family to enjoy and participate in.

West Everton Community Council resurrected the festival again in 2009 on the back of the European City of Culture and in memory of  Joseph Lappin who was tragically killed in the area.  The Out of the Blue Music Festival is rapidly gaining a reputation as a ‘must go to’ event and has  always had a strong local flavour, it  is run by a team of hard working volunteers from West Everton Community Council  and   local partners and organisations committed to improving the area.

Festival organiser Adam Byrne said “The Out of The Blue Music Festival has been associated with Everton Park since the summer of 1991 when 6,000 people turned up to hear local bands and dance the summer evening away.  The festival is hugely important to our community of West Everton and we are absolutely committed to making it an event that both our community and visitors enjoy and want to return to again and again”.

Last year the Music festival partnered with Grow Wild England which transformed parts of Everton Park with inspiring wild flower displays which will be on view this year.  We also moved the festival from China Street and moved to a new site at the top part of Everton Park and it is here we hope to continue to grow and build the Festival.

A fantastic day of live music which showcases the talent of musicians from the Everton area and across the city; which includes local children from In Harmony.   Bands and musicians featured throughout the day include; Waltones, Ideal Threats, Kadance,  Ste Headley Band, The Peacemakers, Daisy Gill, Barry Sutton and Up for Arts Community Choir. The day offers a family friendly mix of events and activities including; arts and crafts, sporting activities, stalls, face painting, cultural food, workshops, circus skills, holistic therapies and lots more.
