Everything you need to know about Liverpool ONE Dog Show this weekend
1 year ago
Liverpool ONE’s always dog-friendly so no-one has to leave their four-legged friend at home when they head to the shops, or their favourite bar or restaurant…
But this weekend those pawfect pooches will be guest of honour in the city centre when it holds its annual Liverpool ONE Dog Show.
Actress and presenter Leanne Campbell will host the annual competition which boasts a collection of categories, from Cutest Puppy to Fancy Dress, for dog owners and their best friends to compete in.
And there’ll be tons of other stuff to do as well, with food and drink stalls, doggy gifts and products to buy from local businesses, and free taster training sessions.
It’ll be a great day out whether you’re taking part or just going along to enjoy the fun, so if you’re thinking of taking the lead and heading to Liverpool ONE Dog Show, here’s everything you need to know.
When is Liverpool ONE Dog Show?
It’s being held this Sunday, September 10, from 11am. Anyone who has pre-registered their pet has to attend the final registration on the day at 10am, with all the fun starting for everyone soon after.
Where is it being held?
All the canine action is taking place in Chavasse Park, slap bang in the middle of Liverpool ONE.
How many competition categories are there?
There are seven categories in total from Cutest Puppy, Prettiest Pooch (female dog), Handsomest Boy (male dog), Best Tricks, Fancy Dress, Musical Statues Challenge, and Rescue Dog.
Can I still register my dog?
No, all competition categories are now full but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy all the fun on the day, watching more than 200 dogs being cute and clever in the fun event categories or taking part in other activities there.
Tell me more about the free dog training sessions?
You can take part in Toddies Dog Training’s free 10-minute taster training sessions with expert trainer Jean. The drop-in sessions will run from 11am – 5pm with ‘lead walking’, ‘come back when called’ and ‘temptation alley’. Jean will also be offering tips on how to teach your dog tricks, including ‘peek-a-boo’, ‘sit pretty’ and ‘spin and twist’.
Who are the judges?
The judges are from independent veterinary practice, The Liverpool Vets; dog grooming salon, DogOne, and Dog Show charity partner and animal welfare people, Tails.
What stalls will be there?
As well as food and drink vendors, there’ll be stalls from people like Paws Right There, Toughdog, JP Holistic Nutrition, Okapii Pet Co, Natural Pet Shop, Cannabark, and Mossy’s Kitchen.
What about if I want to shop, have fun, or go for something to eat afterwards?
Like we said, Liverpool ONE is dog-friendly so not only will you be able to find loads of places where your dog can find water to quench its thirst – it could be hot! – you can shop, eat, and drink with him or her in tow too.
