Everything you need to know about Metquarter’s new food hall, The GPO
3 years ago
Advertorial
The biggest food hall in Liverpool has opened inside Metquarter, with independent street food and drink traders taking over the historic former Post Office building.
Named as a nod to its postal past, The GPO will showcase the region’s best up-and-coming independent food talent, giving customers a wide range of different cuisines to choose from.
Starting with breakfast and going right through to late night drinks, it will launch with 12 independent kitchens serving more than 400 different dishes in a huge 11,000sqft space seating up to 300.
A new ordering system, iBe Loyalty, means customers get easy-to-use table service and there’s also a Grab & Go area featuring independent Liverpool businesses, offering a fast-buy takeaway option for anyone who hasn’t got time to sit in.
The GPO is the final element of Metquarter’s redevelopment as a complete leisure destination, sitting alongside the Everyman cinema and top shopping brands.
Developed by hospitality specialists The Milestone Group, with Metquarter owners Queensberry, it has created over 130 jobs.
So, with The GPO about to change the face of dining and drinking in the heart of the city centre, here’s everything you need to know …
When does The GPO open?
It launches this Thursday, June 10, and opening hours will be:
Monday – Thursday 8.30am – 11pm; Friday – Saturday 8.30am – 12am; Sunday 8.30am – 11pm.
Where exactly is it?
It’s on the Victoria Street side of Metquarter, right next to the entrance of the Everyman cinema.
What kind of food will there be?
These are the independent traders at The GPO –

Jailbird Nashville Fried Chicken has fried chicken with a choice of three levels of heat – hint of chilli, marinated in Carolina reaper, or clucking hot Nashville-inspired spice.
Patty B’s Burgers – home of the iconic, ironic Pat Butcher logo, it says it’s “just another f**king burger shop” when really it could have the best dirty-loaded burgers.
Ice is all about the amazing Instagrammable ice cream and desserts – fresh, carefully selected, and delicious, you can create your own combinations from ice cream sourced locally.
Torito Taco was founded by a team of mates who love to eat, drink, and create great food together. Now they’re serving modern Mexican street food in Liverpool.
Thai 25 delivers authentic tasting Thai Street food, cooked fast and fresh, with favourites including the fiery Choo Chee Curry and Nam Tok, a traditional barbecued meat dish.
Nama is one if you love your sashimi because it will be bringing responsibly-sourced sashimi grade fish, tuna, wagyu and caviar to GPO, served raw, fresh and natural.
Chit ‘N’ Chaat transfers the vibrancy and taste of India to Liverpool, with a blast of flavours inspired by parts of North and South India in each mouthful.
MorMor makes health-conscious food inspired by the cuisines, cultures and colours of the Levant, in the eastern Mediterranean. Everything is created in-house from award-winning shawarma to classic shakshukas.
ALS Gongcha brings Bubble Tea from Alishan, Taiwan’s famous tea-growing area. Made by blending a tea base with milk, fruit and fruit juices, then adding tapioca pearls.
Monkey Board Coffee sources the best single-origin coffee from around the world, supplying some quirky and unique blends, and working closely with roasters for a top taste experience.
What about ordering?
The GPO will use iBe Loyalty so customers can order from their seat or while shopping within Metquarter. It gives instant cashback rewards on purchases and ensures that 100% of every bill goes direct to traders.
