It’s one of the highlight events of the year, and Southport Air Show’s getting ready to take to the skies – and land – again this weekend.
Steeped in tradition, it’s a must for families and aviation fans and organisers reckon whether you’re a first-time visitor or a seasoned spectator, the ‘celebration of flight, skill, and engineering marvels’ is going to be better than ever.
When is Southport Air Show?
Southport Air Show will be on this Saturday and Sunday, August 30-31.
What time does it start?
The show opens at around 10am both days and finishes at around 5pm.
Where is it?
It’s easy to spot and get to because Southport Air Show takes place along the seafront with all the flight action happening above the sands and beach.

What can I expect to see?
The confirmed flight programme includes the RAF Typhoon and RAF Tutor; Richard Goodwin Jet Pitts; Rolls Royce Spitfire; Aerosuperbatics Wingwalkers; The Starlings Aerobatic Team; Navywings Swordfish; a Rolls Royce Spitfire, and a Sea King helicopter. There’ll be a Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, a Great War Display Team, the Falcons Parachute Display Team, and so much more. Five-times French aerobatics champion Mélanie Astles will be also be there!
The Military Village
The Military Village on Marine Drive is home to incredible equipment displays from the Armed Forces. If you’re curious about a future in the Armed Forces, this is the place to meet members of the Royal Navy, British Army, and Royal Air Force, and learn more about their roles and career opportunities.
What else is on the ground?
Between the soaring flyovers, there’s a host of fun-filled activities like bungee trampolines, bumper cars, and classic games like hook a duck. You can get up close to replica planes and check out a selection of stalls featuring everything from military memorabilia and original artwork to tasty treats and children’s toys, and the Veterans Living History Museum is back with hundreds of artefacts from WWI to the present day. If it’s a rush you’re after, flight simulators offer the chance to find out what it’s like to be in the cockpit.
Can I buy food at the event?
Yes, there will be vendors on site selling hot and cold food, and drinks. You can take your own food too but BBQs are not permitted.

Can I bring my dog?
Dogs are allowed but it is strongly advised that you don’t take them because of the noise of the aircraft.
How much are tickets?

Can I still buy tickets?
Yes, you can get tickets online via Southport Air Show – Visit Southport, and you can even buy tickets on the day at ticket booths located at the event entrances. Tickets will also be sold at the car park box offices.
