It’s all about the sights and sounds above Southport this weekend as the fireworks are about to go bang!

The British Musical Fireworks Championship returns to Southport this weekend. Visitors can expect three nights of incredible sights and sounds and the best pyrotechnical teams from around the country battle it out for the top accolade.

Breath-taking displays, perfectly choreographed to music will have you dancing the evening away under the stars. This hugely popular event draws thousands to the seaside town. We sent our Simmo to Victoria Park to meet Joanne and Sarah from Sefton Council to find out more.

Here’s everything you need to know about the fireworks in Southport this weekend….

When & Where?

The British Musical Fireworks Championships takes place at Victoria Park, Southport from Friday 27th – Sunday 29th September 2019. The event begins at 8pm on each evening.

Times

Gates open 6pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Entertainment begins at 7pm. The first display will take place at 8pm, the second at 8:30pm and the third (Saturday only) at 9pm. The event closes at 9:30pm.

How to Get There

The best way to travel to see the fireworks in Southport is by public transport. Merseyrail run frequent services from across the region to Southport train station, which is just a 20 minute walk through the town to the waterfront park. Services run every 15 minutes on Sundays. Parking

If you’ve decided to drive to see the fireworks in Southport, visitors are advised to follow the event signage for parking at Princes Park – this is charged at £5 per car on the day – this cannot be prebooked. Disabled parking will be available in the Splashworld Car Park on a first come first served basis.

Online

Tickets start from as little as £7.50 and are now available to buy online here. Online tickets will go off sale at 5pm on each day of the event.

Offline

After the online ticket sales have closed at 5pm each day, tickets will be available on the gate – however it’s likely they will sell out. Do yourself a favour and book yours online in advance here and don’t miss your chance to see this amazing spectacle.

5 Things You Need To Know about the Southport Fireworks

1 – Tickets are valid for the day and date displayed on the ticket only.

2 – This is an outdoor event to so check the weather and dress accordingly!

3 – Food and Drink concessions will be available on site.

4 – Seating is not provided unless you have purchased a ticket for the seated area. You can take your own chair in to te event site.

5 – Children under the age of 5 go free!
