Everything you need to know about the second series of G’wed which starts in February
1 month ago

Award-winning G’wed is back for a second series next month.
The ITVX hit comedy drama, G’wed, is the latest project to receive investment from the Liverpool City Region Production Fund via Liverpool City Council’s Film Office.
And with days before it’s back on our screens, here’s everything you need to know…
What is G’wed is about?

G’wed is a full of heart and humour series about a group of lovable Scouse teenagers. It’s explored all sorts of issues from grief to sex, and the next series is set to look at consent, age gap relationships – and acceptable ways of making money while you’re still at school!
When does the second series start?
Series 2 is back on Thursday, February 6.
Where can I watch it?
G’wed will be on ITVX and ITV2 from 10.05pm.

Why should you watch it?
It famously uses Liverpool’s distinctive voice to delve into working class culture and offer up an uplifting, heart-warming and hilarious portrayal of teenagers today and how they view the world. There’s definitely a feeling of survival with a sense of humour, and it’s written by Liverpool-born Danny Kenny.
Where was it filmed?
It was filmed last summer in Wirral and Liverpool.
Award winning

Dylan Thomas-Smith from Prenton, Wirral, picked up Best Breakthrough Performance for his role as Reece at last year’s Edinburgh TV Awards.
Episode One is dedicated to The Vivienne

The Vivienne has a cameo appearance in episode one as a Liverpool nightclub owner and will air with the blessing of their family, honouring such a special talent.
Mario Stylianides, executive producer of G’wed, says: “All the cast and crew were so saddened by the passing of The Vivienne and the first episode will be dedicated to them. The Vivienne was a trailblazing icon, and we were truly honoured when we found out they were a fan of G’wed and equally excited when they agreed to appear in the first episode of the new series.”
Why do we love it?

Nana Hughes, head of ITV comedy, says: “Danny Kenny’s writing had us crying with laughter one second, crying real tears the next, and then back to laughter. And the hugely talented cast – Reece (Dylan Thomas-Smith), Christopher (Jake Kenny-Byrne), Connor (Max Ainsworth), Ted (Dominic Murphy), Mo (Zak Douglas), Aimee (Amber Harrison) and Mia-Louise (Gemma Barraclough) – brought so much charm and cheek to the show.
What other dramas has the Liverpool City Region Production Fund supported?

Only some of the best dramas over the last few years! Among them two BAFTA winners – Time, starring Sean Bean and Stephen Graham, and Help starring Jodie Comer and Stephen Graham. It also invested in This City Is Ours and The Responder.
Supporting drama – and the city

Across the course of the five-week shoot for series 2, the G’wed production also supported six trainees from the Film Office’s skills initiative Action!, who worked across the assistant directors, costume, props, locations, make-up and sound departments.
Steve Rotheram, Mayor of the Liverpool City Region, says: “When I launched the LCR Production Fund, I wanted to help establish the Liverpool City Region as the Hollywood of the North. This investment isn’t just about making great TV – though G’wed has clearly been a hit – it’s about creating opportunities for local people, supporting our economy, and showing the world what our region can do.”
