Extra dates added to the Calderstones Reader Secret Garden
3 years ago

After months of closure, national charity The Reader are taking the first steps towards re-opening the Mansion House to serve the community at Calderstones once again.
Profits from The Reader’s social enterprises, including The Reader Cafe and Ice Cream Parlour, go directly to support their charitable work here in the City and across the UK so the financial impact of closure has been a huge concern, as it has for so many organisations across the city.
While the usual Shared Reading groups and events at Calderstones aren’t able to resume just yet, the team at The Reader are working hard to plan a range of community activities in the park over the summer, from poetry walks to family experiences to to bring the comfort, escpasim and joy of reading to people of all ages during this time.
As a first step on the path towards this reimagining, The Reader at Calderstones are offering Summer Eats in The Secret Garden – weekend al fresco dining for families and friends to reconnect in the private gardens of the Mansion House.

Some tables will be available for people without reservations on the day. Whether you’ve booked or not, in line with government advice we’ll be recording details of when your party arrives and leaves and will share this and relevant names and phone numbers with NHS Test and Trace if required. To ensure everyone’s safety, The Reader are implementing a number of new measures which you can read about here.
