Family of man killed in M62 collision pay tribute

The family of John Welsh, who sadly died in a fatal road traffic collision on Thursday 27th July, have paid tribute.
At around 11:55pm on Thursday 27 July, emergency services were called to the M62 between junction 7 and 6 in Rainhill. It was reported that a silver Skoda Octavia had collided with a pedestrian on the Liverpool-bound carriageway.
John Welsh was treated by paramedics but was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Skoda remained at the scene, along with a number of members of the public who witnessed the incident. All have assisted detectives in understanding the full circumstances of what happened.
John’s family have now issued the following statement:
“Beloved son, father and brother who will forever live on in are heart.”
Detective Sergeant Andy Roper from the Matrix Serious Collision Investigation Unit said:
“We continue to provide support to John’s family via our specially trained Family Liaison Officers and our thoughts remain with them at this devastating time.”
“I would like to say ‘thank you’ to the large number of people who helped at the scene on the night or who have already contacted our witness appeal line and have assisted with this investigation. If there is anyone with dash camera footage of this incident that we have not already had contact with, I would be grateful if they could give our team a call.”
“We are also offering assistance to people who have witnessed this incident and would urge anyone who has not called us yet to make contact so that we can ensure you have access to support”.
