Family pay tribute to devoted Great Nan killed in Thornton Hough road collision

Christine Jones was sadly killed in a road traffic collision in Thornton Hough on Monday 14 August and her family have paid tribute.

Emergency services were called to Thornton Common Road just after 9pm following a collision involving a blue Ford Fiesta and a blue Peugeot 3008 on Thornton Common Road.

Three people were taken to hospital. Two male drivers sustained serious injuries which are not life threatening. 

68-year-old Christine Jones, who was a passenger in the Ford Fiesta, sadly died from her injuries on Thursday 17 August.

A 60-year-old man from Neston was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He has been released under investigation pending further enquiries.

Christine’s family have issued the following statement: “We would like to express our sincere thanks to all of the emergency services especially the wonderful staff at Aintree University Hospital.

“She was a devoted wife, mum, nan and great nan who loved her family, her home especially her beautiful garden.”

Detective Sergeant Kurt Timpson from the Matrix Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “Our thoughts are very much with Christine’s family who have asked people to respect their privacy at this difficult time.

“We launched an investigation on Monday and our detectives are gathering evidence. Our priority is to get answers for her family, who are being supported by specially trained officers.  

“If you were passing the location and saw or captured the incident on CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage, or believe you witnessed either vehicle prior to the collision, then please get in touch with us.  I would also like to thank members of the local community who have assisted us so far, as their support is vital to us.”
