POLE DANCING FOR FITNESS – WHERE TO FIND IT IN LIVERPOOL!
Liverpool has a new fitness craze for the ladies of the city. It seems pole dancing classes have become very popular in the city these last few months but where can you find them?
Pole Fitness by Amanda Leavesley is the latest pole dancing classes to add more classes to her timetable. Pole Fitness by Amanda Leavesley is one of many pole dancing fitness classes in the city.
Other pole dancing fitness classes include Liverpole which offer a selection of fitness classes on their timetable for all ladies no matter their shape and size!
Amanda at Pole Fitness said ‘you do definitely not have to be a size eight to join in my classes. I have danced and taught with girls from size 4 – 24, the only limit to pole dancing is your mind. Bigger girls often go on to become the best in the class. Every girl on the pole has their own style on the pole and weight, size or age is never an issue”
Liverpole have a number of different packages available to suit everybody needs and abilities and pole dancing fitness classes can be an excellent way for you ladies to build strength & lose those pounds.
Amanda at Pole Fitness said ‘pole dancing is excellent for fitness as it is a complete full body workout. You literally use every muscle of the body, including muscles you didn’t even know you hade. The areas you will see improve the most are arms, stomach, bum & thighs. You can burn between 290 to 400 calories during one class! It’s an amazing workout!’
Over the coming months, pole dancing fitness classes will be popping up across gyms across the city as pole dancing instructors try to shake off the reputation that comes along with pole dancing. Many people link pole dancing with erotic dances in gentlemen’s bars.
We asked Amanda at Pole fitness why pole dancing hasn’t always been linked to fitness, here is what she had to say;
‘Pole dancing originated in the 1920’s and took place in circuses. It eventually combined with burlesque dance and ended up in bars, and then on to Gentlemen’s clubs. So pole dancing will always be associated with the sexy side, as that’s where it originated from. However, as times have moved on so has pole dance, just like any other sport or dance has moved on. There are different types of pole dance, Pole Fitness/Sport (which people are actively fighting to get into the Olympics) Pole Dance/Artistic, which pole dances are carefully choreographed, incorporating pole tricks, spins and moves. And then of course Pole Erotic/Exotic, which is where the stigma is attached. In actual fact, I’d say around 90% of the pole dancing around now is either Pole Fitness/Sport or Pole Dance/Artistic. So maybe it’s time to let go of that stigma’
It is pretty clear that both Liverpole & Pole Fitness are trying to break the reputation that pole dancing has, and they seem to be doing a great job of doing it! Ladies all over the city are booking classes with Liverpole & Pole Fitness, among others to find a fun way to get fit and lose those pounds.
