Frankie Goes To Hollywood’s Brian Nash to join the Choir With No Name on stage at the Everyman

The Choir with No Name (CWNN) Liverpool, a choir involving people impacted by homelessness, is set to bring its annual ‘Big Gig’ back to the city, on Friday 9th September, for the first time since the pandemic hit.

Fresh from triumphant performances at The Bombed Out Church, Liverpool Loves You and the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall with the world renowned Spooky Men’s Chorale, the choir will perform at the Liverpool Everyman Theatre, alongside extra-special guests, the Wrexham One Love Choir and Brain Nash from Frankie Goes To Hollywood.

CWNN Liverpool will be raising the roof – as well as vital funds to support the cost of keeping the choir running – and is looking forward to welcoming people from the across the city and beyond to join them and their special guests for an uplifting evening of rock and pop classics, great music and plenty of sing-along fun for all the family.

Liverpool musician Brian Nash, best known as lead guitarist and backing vocalist of the iconic 80s synth-pop band, Frankie Goes to Hollywood, will join CWNN Liverpool and Wrexham One Love Choir, a North-Wales based choir for people who have experienced homelessness, addiction, mental health issues or who are otherwise vulnerable or marginalised.

The Wrexham Choir was established with the help of the Choir with No Name and the Liverpool choir also continues to support it under its ‘Choir with No Name Family’ umbrella and is extremely proud to see the One Love Choir thriving – and singing – stronger than ever!

CWNN Liverpool Choir Manager, Ema Quinn, said:

“We are ecstatic to be back and performing our much-loved annual ‘Big Gig’ for the first time in almost three years, and at the iconic Everyman too – something we have been dreaming of doing for many years.

“The pandemic hit many of our members very hard and the last few years have been tough, but we feel that we have come back better and stronger as a group. I am so proud of what we have achieved and am really looking forward to sharing our hope and positivity through our show.

“Having our special guests will make the evening even more fabulous, and will be a bigger treat for our audience. We want as many people as possible to join our celebration, so get your tickets soon!

“Profits through ticket sales and donations on the night, will support the cost of keeping our weekly choir rehearsal running and our members singing well into the future, so any support is enormously appreciated.”

Sian Hughes, from Wrexham One Love Choir, said:

“The team at Choir with No Name Liverpool helped us to set our group up in 2018 and they have been a fantastic support to us and our members. We are more than excited to be able to share a stage with them at the Liverpool Everyman Theatre for this post-pandemic comeback gig – we’re going to sing our hearts out!”

Brian Nash added:

“I started playing guitar before I was ten years old and in the 50 years that has passed since then I have never come across another musician who learned to play an instrument so they could play all alone. Music, in whatever form it comes, is all about collaboration and people making music TOGETHER, and creating something from nothing.

“For me to perform with the Choir With No Name Liverpool choir is a fantastic privilege and an opportunity not to be missed and I have been looking forward to it since I wrote it in my diary. To play a much loved Frankie Goes To Hollywood song with them will hopefully be as special for them, as it will be for myself, and I hope I get the opportunity to play one of my own compositions alongside it and let the choir bring their magic to it.”

The ‘Big Gig’ takes place on Friday 9th September at Liverpool Everyman Theatre, starting at 7:30pm.
