Future Yard to host its first ever Christmas Panto this winter
2 months ago
This Christmas, Birkenhead’s Future Yard is turning up the volume on festive fun with the launch of its first ever Gig Panto – Robin Hood: Hoodstock ’25.
Forget the fairytales you know, this is panto done Future Yard style: part gig, part comedy, part festive chaos and 100% live music.
Set in the year 2025, Hoodstock ’25 tells the story of Robin Hood and his Mersey Men, once legends of the local music scene, who’ve faded into myth since their glory days at the legendary Hoodstock ’99 festival. But when the evil Sheriff bans live music and replaces it with soulless AI-generated acts including No Direction, Charlie A.B.C., Just a Beaver, Sabrina Plasterer and David Guetta, it’s up to Robin to bring live music back to the people. To do it, he’ll need to reunite the band and play the greatest gig of all time…

Packed with festive hilarity, anarchic energy and a killer live soundtrack featuring tunes from the likes of Talking Heads, The Zutons, CMAT, Fontaines D.C. and Pulp, this all-new Gig Panto promises an irreverent, alternative Christmas night out for live music lovers and panto fans alike. Expect singalongs, laughter, and maybe even a few dodgy guitar solos.
Performances run from Monday 22nd December to Wednesday 31st December 2025, with eight shows across the festive season:
Evening Shows – Mon 22, Tue 23, Sun 28, Mon 29, Tue 30 (7:30pm start)
Matinée Shows – Wed 24, Fri 26, Wed 31 (1:30pm start) Future Yard’s kitchen will be open from 90 minutes before each performance, serving up classic Italian pizza and drinks before the show and during the interval.

Mat Oliphant, Co-Director of Off The Ground Theatre said:
“Off The Ground has always loved panto, so it’s such an exciting opportunity to bring some festive chaos back to the Wirral, especially in partnership with an organisation like Future Yard who share our values of inclusivity and community. What a way to end our 30th year as a theatre company! We can’t wait!”
So grab your friends, tune your air guitars, and join the rebellion to save live music this Christmas. Because in 2025, the future of rock depends on Robin Hood.
