George Orwell’s classic ‘Animal Farm’ comes to Liverpool Playhouse this April

Marking 80 years since the publication of George Orwell’s Animal Farm, a powerful new stage adaptation is coming to the Liverpool Playhouse this April.
A biting satire on the corruption of power, Animal Farm remains as relevant today as when Orwell first wrote it in 1945.
The story follows the animals of Manor Farm, who, after overthrowing their human master, dream of a world of freedom and equality—only to find their new leaders mirroring the tyranny they sought to escape.
Director Iqbal Khan said:
“At its heart, Animal Farm has such a powerful and important message, even 80 years on from when Orwell first wrote the book. I am delighted we have such an incredibly talented cast of actors and creatives to share this new vision for this vital story.”
Cast includes:
- Sam Black (Animal Farm, Cyrano De Bergerac) as Boxer
- Natalia Campbell (The Tempest, Tartuffe) as Old Major and Clover
- Olivia Chandler (Animal Farm, Around the World in 80 Days) as Mollie
- Lewis Griffin (All of Us, Comedy of Errors) as Squealer
- Soroosh Lavasani (Peter Pan Goes Wrong, Romeo & Juliet) as Snowball
- Rhian Lynch (Peter Pan The Musical, Miss Popplewell’s Garden) as Napoleon

Completing the cast are:
- Kai Spellman (Around the World in 80 Days, Ali and Dahlia) as Male Swing and Associate Director
- Heather Porte (Jack and the Beanstalk, The Lost Present) as Female Swing
The creative team includes:

This gripping adaptation is an Octagon Theatre Bolton, Derby Theatre, and Hull Truck Theatre production.
With its timeless themes and stunning staging, it promises to be a thought-provoking and unforgettable theatre experience.
Animal Farm runs from Tuesday 1 – Saturday 5 April 2025 at Liverpool Playhouse. Tickets range from £11 to £36.
