Get Involved: Could You Take On The £100 Challenge?
Scousers are a generous lot and have always had a reputation for ‘giving you the coat of their back if you need it’ outlook when it comes to helping others.
We love publishing stories and making videos about local organisations that give back to the community and we’re delighted to be launching this extra special challenge alongside the Lord Mayor of Liverpool, Councillor Roz Gladden.
During her 12 months at the Town Hall, The Lord Mayor is taking on a whole host of random challenges, from abseiling down the Royal Hospital to running the Scouse 5k (with her dog) in a bid to raise more cash than ever for her 4 chosen charities……and now she needs your help.
To help Roz reach her ambitious fundraising goal she is inviting you to take part in The Lord Mayor’s Challenge, a city-wide appeal to get as many organisations, businesses, schools, nurseries and individuals to pledge their support and raise £100 before 31st March 2017.
Those who sign up to the challenge will be supporting four very worthy, local causes; Claire House Children’s Hospice, R Charity, Tom Harrison House and Liverpool Heartbeat.
The Lord Mayor said: “I have spent a lot of time with each of my chosen charities and I know just how much your fundraising efforts will benefit local people and their families when they need it most.”
The Lord Mayor is keen to share your fundraising efforts with the whole city. Those who sign up will be splashed all over the Town Hall social media accounts throughout the challenge and invited to a Thanksgiving Reception in the grand ballroom at the Town Hall itself, at the end of the challenge, in April 2017.
And to get the ball rolling, we’re signing on the dotted line too! The Guide Liverpool team are putting their heads together to come up with some random fundraising ideas to hit the £100 jackpot (and hopefully even more) which we’ll share with you over the next few months and we want to hear your ideas too!
To pledge your support and raise (a minimum of) £100 for the Lord Mayor’s Challenge, email your contact details to [email protected] for your fundraising pack or head to the Lord Mayor’s Facebook page for more info and display your ‘Challenge Accepted’ poster with pride.
Don’t forget to tag your fundraising ideas and photo’s with the official hashtag for the challenge #LMLIV100 and get involved!
