Get your team ready for The Redmen TV’s Liverpool Quiz Night

It’s time to get your first team match-fit and ready for a Liverpool Quiz Night.

The event – that’s ‘not your normal quiz night’! – is being held at Hotel Anfield next month by The Redmen TV.

And as well as being in the premier league of quizzes, The Redmen TV hope it’ll be the first of many more nights it’s organising with the focus firmly fixed on fun.

“I just love live entertainment,” says The Redmen TV founder Paul Machin. “Most of everything we have ever done is because it’s been cool, or it’s been fun, and if we do stuff that entertains us, we trust that other people will be entertained by it too.

“So we want to do more regular live events and this is just testing the water. There’ll be a bunch of things over the next year, but this is the one we’re pouring all our energies into at the moment.”

The Redmen TV’s Liverpool Quiz Night will be held on Friday, May 5, with Paul as host along with fellow Redman Chris Pajak.

A quiz is something they’ve done on their YouTube channel in the past, but Paul adds of the live event: “There’s all the usual elements, and anyone who’s ever done a quiz will recognise the core of what we’re doing, people are going to be in teams, and answering questions to build up points and win prizes.

“But we want it to be more than just that and bring a party atmosphere to it. We want it to be a proper, memorable night out, so we’ll be combining lots of different elements and mixing things up from the standard ‘there’s a pen and paper, answer your trivia questions’.

“We’re going to be putting some physical rounds in there, putting some singing challenges in there, some mental challenges… and so it will be much more of an interactive experience. There’ll also be live music from Dave Jaggs from The Ragamuffins.”

He goes on: “We’ve always been a bit of a unique offering on YouTube and we have never taken life too seriously, so it’s nice to bring a bit more fun and bring it out into the real world.”

The Liverpool Quiz Night will obviously be geared towards Liverpool fans; and with a home game against Brentford the next day, a lot of supporters will travelling to the city as well as already in it, so it’s a chance to make a weekend of it, says Paul.

“We want to tag on to the weekend action and give Liverpool fans something to get excited about and have fun with.

“Let’s be honest,” he smiles, “Liverpool have been a bit rubbish this season; the team haven’t been giving us the same amount of joy as they have in recent years so if we can help them lift spirits, and put some smiles on back on faces, then we’ve accomplished something.”

Tickets are £15 from Ticket Quarter, with discounts for table bookings, and it’s hoped it will attract around 100 people (‘intimate enough that everyone can get involved but big enough that it’s going to be a proper party’).

The Redmen TV has been going now for 13 years on YouTube with the aim of spreading the ethos of Liverpool Football Club and the city.

“It’s having more people to discuss football with, and we are seeking to spread the love and joy of Liverpool.

“When Liverpool are doing well we love to help spread the joy further, and when they’re doing badly we want to be a bit of a support network for people who are struggling with it.”

Paul admits he personally feels a responsibility to keep up morale and offer a balance when things aren’t going as great as they might: “The scouse attitude is a ‘glass half full attitude,’ and sometimes people don’t have that or it’s been a bit kicked out from them with all the other stuff going on in the world, so I feel a sense of responsibility to showcase how good it is to be a Liverpool fan and how good it is to be in the city.”

The Redmen TV now has a team of 11 full time members of staff offering a full streaming service, videos and podcasts on all things LFC.

And Paul says: “The Redmen TV isn’t going anywhere and if, hopefully, Liverpool can get their act together we, and them, can continue to go from strength to strength.”
