7.45am – History in the making!

The Grand National isn’t just any horse race, it’s sporting history. It’s been going for an amazing 186 years, and it’s made the likes of Red Rum, Aldaniti and Tiger Roll into legends, so it definitely qualifies as a British institution. Being in the crowd to watch it happen in person is like being at Anfield or Goodison for a derby match – it’s just an unforgettable experience.
7.41am – What entertainment can you expect at Aintree Racecourse during Saturday?

If you’ve gone to all that effort to style it out on Saturday, you don’t want to just go straight home once the last race is over. You can head to the Red Rum Garden instead because that’s where DJ Craig Charles will be headlining with a brilliant set of soul and funk tunes that’ll soon have you dancing and forgetting about your aching feet (or maybe change into the Aintree standard flip-flops first!). Liverpool’s Brad Kella, the massively talented winner of C4’s The Piano, will also be performing this National Saturday.
7.36am – Look out for these great giveaway at Aintree Racecourse
7.30am – Get the train with Merseyrail

The easiest way to get to Aintree is by train and, as always, Merseyrail will be running a special timetable for the National with a seven-and-a-half-minute frequency of service between Liverpool City Centre and Aintree station before and after the races on each day of the festival.
Trains on the Northern line will run to a slightly amended timetable to provide the best possible service and it’s always an idea to check the journey planner on Merseyrail’s website or app for up-to-date times before you set off.
On all three days, the seven-and-a-half-minute service will run between Aintree and Liverpool Central/Moorfields stations at the following times:
- Liverpool city centre to Aintree, from approximately 11am – 1pm
- Aintree to Liverpool city centre, from approximately 4.30-8.30pm
Visit Merseyrail.org for more info HERE.
