Hamilton opens at Liverpool Empire for a revolutionary run in the theatre’s 100th year
13 hours ago

One of the biggest shows in theatre history has officially landed in Liverpool – and it’s here for an extended run at the Empire Theatre during its centenary year.
Lin-Manuel Miranda’s game-changing musical Hamilton is now lighting up the stage at the city’s most iconic venue, bringing its unique mix of hip-hop, jazz, blues and Broadway to Liverpool audiences for the very first time.
The show tells the story of Alexander Hamilton – one of America’s founding fathers – through a high-energy, genre-blending soundtrack and powerful choreography that’s become a global phenomenon. It’s a bold and fresh retelling of history that’s already scooped up a Pulitzer Prize, 11 Tony Awards, seven Olivier Awards and a Grammy.
This latest production is led by Marley Fenton as Hamilton, a rising star who recently won Best Supporting Male Actor in a Musical at the Black British Theatre Awards. He’s joined by Billy Nevers as Aaron Burr, alongside Casey Al-Shaqsy as Eliza, Chasity Crisp as Angelica Schuyler, and Ashley J. Daniels as Lafayette and Jefferson.
Also taking to the stage are Shak Mancel James as John Laurens and Philip Hamilton, Naomi Katiyo as Peggy Schuyler and Maria Reynolds, KM Drew Boateng as Hercules Mulligan and James Madison, Akmed Junior Khemalai as George Washington and Louis Maskell as King George.

This production also marks the first time Hamilton has played in Liverpool – and it arrives with a serious line-up of talent, with many cast members bringing West End experience from shows like The Lion King, Wicked, Ain’t Too Proud, Six and Book of Mormon.
Behind the scenes, the creative team includes director Thomas Kail, choreographer Andy Blankenbuehler, and musical supervisor Alex Lacamoire – the original dream team behind the Broadway smash hit. It’s all based on the bestselling biography by Ron Chernow.
Whether you’re a long-time fan of the show or seeing it for the first time, Hamilton promises a powerful night of theatre packed with energy, emotion and unforgettable tunes – and it’s right here in Liverpool.
