Here’s 10 things you can do at the Southport Food & Drink Festival

Bring your appetite, your mates and the whole family to Victoria Park as Southport Food & Drink Festival returns with something for everyone. Watch above as our Simmo gets all the info you need.


Southport Food & Drink Festival takes place on 31st May until 2nd June 2019 and whether you’re going with the family, friends, hen or stag party or even the dog, there’s plenty for you to enjoy. Alongside a huge array of street food and drinks stalls, there’s also live music from local bands and artists. Mini visitors can enjoy workshops, circus activities and of course, plenty of tasty snacks too.

Sponsored by Arriva, this year’s weekend-long event is gearing up to be the best one yet and to make life a bit easier, we’ve lined up some top tips for planning your day our at Southport Food & Drink Festival.


Here’s 10 things you need to know about Southport Food & Drink Festival…

1 – Breakfast, lunch and dinner…sorted!

Wear comfy pants because there’s so many street food vendors to choose from, you can literally eat all day. Start the day with a bacon butty from a farm that hand rears the pigs, then spend the day nibbling on Persian, American, Thai cuisine and loads more. Bring your appetite.


2 – You can do your food shop

Make sure you bring all those reusable shopping bags from under the sink because the local producers have plenty you can take home. Cheesecake donuts, local honey, fresh fruit and veg boxes, meats, herbs and spices, cheese, olives and lots more. You had us at Cheesecake donuts to be fair.


3 – Leave the car at home

If you are heading to the Southport Food & Drink Festival this year why not make the most of it and leave the car at home? Travel to the festival via Arriva services across Southport, meaning you can enjoy all of the food and drink on offer, without having to worry about driving or parking. The friendly Arriva team will be at the festival too so stop by and say hello. Use the journey planner and check Arriva services to the festival here. 


4 – Check out the Johnsons Toyota Arena

Throughout the festival the entertainment marquee, hosted by Southport’s very own Simon Smithies (fondly known as the British Musical Fireworks Championship ‘voice’), local musicians will be playing throughout the day bringing an amazing atmosphere to the event. 5 – Unwind with a Massage

If you’ve had a hard week why not let off some steam and relax with a massage from the trained therapists from Formby Hall Golf Resort & Spa. There really is something for everyone.

6 – Cocktail Flaring Comp

The Southport Food & Drink annual flaring competition is again being held at 12:30pm on Saturday 2nd June. Grab a drink and enjoy a few hours of cocktail flaring at its finest. Plus will winning bragging rights up for grabs, it is a competition so the standards are high. Great fun all around!


7 – Keep the kids entertained all day

The Children’s Marquee at Southport Food & Drink Festival has activities taking place all day long. Choose from Arts and Crafts from The Creation Station, Magic Shows from Mr Stix, Story Times with Jude from Little Lambs Tails and Sports Workshops from Sport Skills Academy. Reptiles North West will be showcasing some of their wonderful creatures too.

If all that wasn’t enough, Children’s Marquee sponsor. Hickory’s Smokehouse will be on site giving out popcorn and other fun activities. Fabulous family fun.


8 – A birds eye view and bar

Proving a huge hit last year was the cocktail bar with the seating upstairs allowing visitors to watch the world go by from up high. Back again for another weekend of fabulous food and drink, why not order a cocktail and nab a seat to watch events unfold from above.  Alternatively wander over to the old, converted American school bus and tuck into beer and wings.


9 – Enjoy a Disco Music Festival

Head to Flare ‘n’ Funk and enjoy delicious cocktails, larger with the latest tunes and big beats from a host of local DJ’s spinning the wheels of steel at this years Southport Food & Drink Festival.


10 – Four-legged friends are welcome

Dogs are most welcome at Southport Food & Drink Festival. Bring along you furry bestie and their lead and wander the stalls for some tasty morsels to munch on together. There’s a pet watering station from Butternut Box too.

Whichever day you visit Southport Food & Drink Festival, getting their by public transport is key. Merseyrail operates a frequent service into nearby Southport station and of course, festival sponsor, Arriva can get you there by bus too. It’s bound to be yet another brilliant event with something for everyone. Grab your factor 50, drink responsibly and great up for an amazing weekend in Southport.
