Here’s the plan for Sound City’s lockdown virtual festival this weekend
4 years ago

Sound City has been bringing the music to Liverpool for thirteen years now and a lockdown isn’t going to stop it doing the same in 2020.
With this year’s festival postponed until September, Sound City are partnering with the Music Venues Trust #saveourvenues and taking the event online this Saturday with a stellar line-up of artists on streaming platform Guest House.
Headliners Friendly Fires will join the party with a DJ set, while The Wombats, Red Rum Club, The Night Cafe play live amongst over 30 emerging artists from 12noon onwards.
Newcomers to Guesthouselive.co.uk can watch the event for free by starting a 60 day free trial, with ‘festivalgoers’ encouraged to pledge directly to artists through the Guest House site, support charity partner #saveourvenues and purchase the exclusive Sound City ‘Stay at Home’ t-shirt.
This online manifestation of Sound City keeps with the festival’s global spirit, featuring one of Taiwan’s biggest bands EggPlantEgg, while partnering with industry bodies KeyChange, Featured Artist Coalition, Breakout West (Canada), Gorwelion Horizons and CAPLL.
The online conference features John Robb in conversation with David Martin from FAC, Grammy Award winning producer Adrian Bushby (Foo Fighters, U2, Everything Everything) in conversation Dr Jennifer Otter Bickerdike, and Alex Sutton (LD Communications) on ‘PR in a Crisis’.
Festival founder Dave Pichilingi, “We were determined to fill the space in May that we have occupied for the past 13 years. We have put together an amazing line up of diverse artists and speakers from right across the globe. Everyone involved has given their time and performances for free. To show our gratitude we would urge everyone to pledge what you can when you are in the Guest House platform.
Our aim is to still to be back where we belong in late September. For now, Sound City ‘stay at home’ Guest House takeover is our way of continuing our mission to put emerging talent in the spotlight and exciting our fans around the world.
