Hickory’s are back and reopening Saturday 4th July

25/06/2020

The team behind Wirral’s favourite Smokehouse and star of the local restaurant scene for the past seven years Hickory’s have announced they will be re-opening on Saturday 4th July.

As the team get ready to swing open the doors on American Independence Day, General Manager Tom Schofield says they couldn’t be happier to be back where they belong, firing up the smokers and welcoming everyone back.

For anyone who has been missing out on a Hicks fix you will find all your favourite BBQ dishes will be back on the menu. Rest assured the smokehouse classics such as Texas-style brisket, ribs and wings will all be making an appearance, along with burnt ends, southern fried chicken & of course the Chicken Fried Waffle.

The team have made some cool new changes and innovative additions to the current layout to ensure diners can return safely, without losing any of the much-loved Hickory’s experience.

Guests will be able to make the most of the summer months with additional al fresco dining space out front and the super-cool veranda with its retractable windows and roof open every day.

‘We have made sure that the changes we have made all add to the Hickory’s vibe,’ said Tom. ‘We’ve always made a big deal of our outdoor spaces and the veranda and we are already planning some really exciting additions to these areas as we head towards the autumn.’

Tom said the team have been working really hard behind the scenes during what he refers to as their ‘extended Spring Break’ and they are all super excited to be back. ‘They cannot wait to get back to smoking, mixing, shaking and serving your Hickory’s favourites and we can’t wait to welcome you back.’

Hibernation has been a busy time for everyone. Along with manning their innovative little pop-up garden centre, the team have also been busy working alongside their charity partner, Radio City’s Cash For Kids. Along with their colleagues from their sister sites, the team have managed to raise a staggering £65,000 for the local charity, while their chefs have been responsible for cooking up in the region of 3200 meals for local families, which the team volunteered to deliver personably each week.

But now, with their own unique guest ‘Safety Pledge’ in place, the team are ready to get back to business and do what they do best, looking after guests and offering some true Southern hospitality.

It’s been a hard time for the hospitality industry and a very uncertain period for everyone involved.

Founder Neil McDonnell has extended his thanks to everyone who has reached out to the team:

‘We’ve had so much support from our regulars, guests and people from across our sites as a whole and that is what has kept us going throughout lockdown. It’s been a devastating time for our industry but all the messages, emails and social media posts we’ve had have been incredibly humbling and so heart-warming for the whole team. We can’t wait to get back to doing what we love, showing our guests some real Southern hospitality, albeit with a few less handshakes.”

They are taking bookings now and will be open officially from Saturday 4th July and will be opening from 11am every day. Keep your eyes on their website and social media channels for any updates.
