Homes for Students Champions Mental Health and Children’s Charities
2 years ago
Homes for Students has supported a local university society in its efforts to raise money for two Merseyside charities.
In April, the Liverpool Medical Students Society (LMSS) embarked on the āSea2Sea Cycle Challengeā. The 17-strong team of medical students trained around their studies for three months to prepare for their ambitious journey starting at the North Sea in Hull with the finish line at the Irish Sea in Liverpool. Homes for Students provided the team with their custom-made cycling jerseys. With the support of Homes for Students, LMSS raisedĀ almost Ā£5,000 for vital charities, Wirral Mind and Liverpoolās childrenāsĀ charity, KIND.
Wirral Mind supports people who are struggling with their mental health and aim to normalise conversations around mental health and tackle stigma and discrimination. Wirral Mind supports their local community to live mentally healthier lives.
The KIND Liverpool charity helps children and families across Merseyside cope with the effects of poverty and disadvantage. KIND delivers educational programmes, coordinates an annual large-scale Christmas food appeal for disadvantaged families across the region as well as summer residential breaks for children.
HFS Managing Director, Kate Forester, said
“After meeting the students at the KIND Christmas hamper pack, we were delighted toĀ sponsor their efforts to raise money for two charities close to our hearts. Here at HomesĀ for Students, we aspire to be āa force for goodā and thatās certainly something that aligns with the charity work LMSS carries out.
“Iād like to personally congratulate them on theirĀ achievements, and believe they looked great in the HFS cycle jerseys!”
Although the cycle is now complete, the charity page is still open to donations, details can be found here.
Homes for Students is the UKās largest independent PBSA provider, managing overĀ 38,000 beds across 168 properties in 55 UK and Ireland towns and cities. Since its establishment in 2015, it now employs nearly 800 people across the properties it manages and two central support offices in Harrogate and Liverpool.
