Hotel Indigo Liverpool is giving back to the local community this Christmas
4 years ago

One of the city’s favourite hotels, Hotel Indigo is supporting the Walton Centre and Cash for Kids
Hotel Indigo Liverpool has partnered with The Walton Centre as part of its first visitor payback scheme to help raise money for the specialist neurology hospital.
The hotel, which is managed by Valor Hospitality Europe, is home to a Marco Pierre White Steakhouse restaurant and Scouse has been selected from its mouth-watering menu as the dish of choice for the fundraising initiative. For every bowl of Scouse ordered, the hotel will donate 50p to the hospital.
The Walton Centre is close to the team’s heart at Hotel Indigo Liverpool, after the hospital played a big role in supporting the family of one of their own. In 2009, revenue manager Paul Cunningham’s wife Rachel fell ill while on their honeymoon and over the years has had 12 brain and spine operations and is now tetraplegic. Since then, the family has been committed to doing all they can to raise funds for the Centre which is the only specialist hospital trust in the UK dedicated to providing comprehensive neurology, neurosurgery, spinal and pain management services.
As well as supporting The Walton Centre, the hotel is also set to host a special lunch for 50 local children from underprivileged backgrounds as part of Cash for Kids.
Katie Harrison, senior fundraiser at Radio City Cash for Kids, said: “This will be the 8th year that Hotel Indigo has very kindly hosted a Christmas party for some very needy families that we support.
“Some of the families that attend have never even been into a hotel, let alone enjoyed a delicious meal in there, so it really is a special treat and makes Christmas magical for the whole family. Father Christmas attends on the day too to make it extra special for the children as he brings a gift for each child too. We are so grateful to Hotel Indigo for doing this for us again and keeping the magic of Christmas alive.”
The hotel is also a dedicated drop off point for gifts as part of the Cash for Kids Christmas present collection.
Ben Morcombe, general manager at Hotel Indigo Liverpool, said: “It has always been important to us as a team that we give back to the local community where we can.
“We have been considering implementing a visitor payback scheme at Hotel Indigo Liverpool for some time and working with The Walton Centre immediately sprung to mind for us as we know the excellent care and support that it has given Paul and his family. The initiative isn’t just about raising money though, we also want to raise awareness of the life changing work that goes on there day in, day out.
“Cash For Kids is another fantastic organisation operating in Liverpool and we are really looking forward to welcoming the children to the hotel for what is set to be a fun afternoon. We would also like to encourage anyone who is able to make a Christmas gift donation to do so, it can really make the difference and after all, giving to those in need is what the spirit of the season is all about.”
Gifts for the Cash for Kids Christmas collection can be delivered from now until and 20th December.
