How to be Single in Liverpool: A Love Letter to 2018

Our girl on the shelf is setting some serious New Year goals in the love department.

Looking for love in Liverpool in 2017 was absolutely superb! Seriously, I managed to rack up an impressive amount of first dates….not as many second dates admittedly but still, the city offered up so many opportunities, it seemed rude not to accept. From summer festivals, winter walks, movie nights and more, learning how to be single in Liverpool was a real buzz.

As we move into a brand new year, I’m basically continuing in the same, positive vain, lots of nights out, speed dating, new apps to try out, there’s valentines day to get through and I’ll defo need a date for the Royal Wedding in May. Even with Harry officially off the market, I’m determined to sort the wheat from the chaff (not sure what chaff is, sounds rude) and see if I can nab a boyfriend by Christmas 2018. With that in mind and being a bit of crank….I’ve penned a Love Letter to 2018.

Brace yourself 2018, potential dates are coming.

Dear 2018,

I hope you’ve had your Weetabix, we’ve got a lot to get through.

I’m envisaging tension-filled, flirty dates at Liverpool’s hottest bars, beers at Peaky Blinders Bar, cocktails at The Alchemist and Masonic Hall.  Further flirting will take place over brunch at Cain’s Brewery Village and romantic meals at Marco Pierre White and Wreckfish. Traditional movie nights at indie venues like HUS and Baltic Market is how I plan to spend my Thursday nights with a tall, dark and handsome fittie, followed by a late night slice at Crazy Pedro’s.

The right guy will be up for Bongo’s Bingo at Camp & Furnace with all my mates and is the type to meet me for a quick coffee at Lock & Key on his lunch, he’s thoughtful like that. Weekend dates will be spent on the regions beaches, checking out the views from Crosby and Formby and taking tonnes of pics and selfies with our stunning city skyline from New Brighton (he’ll have a dog, preferably). Wandering the pathways of Sefton Park and Otterspool is also on the cards.

The festival line up in the city this year is incredible and the right guy will look as fit in his suit for work as he does in a pair of Adidas Beckenbauer from Transalpino, head bobbing at LIMF or giving it loads at Sound City. I’ll drag him to The Clothes Show where he’ll try to not eye up the models and we’ll spend August Bank Holiday at Creamfields reclaiming our youth.

Come December my Instagram will be chokker with photies from days spent at the Albert Dock checking out tall ships, clippers and pirate festivals, while sipping cocktails on the dockside at Gusto and checking out his snake hip moves at Revolution De Cuba. I’ll drag him to see Katy Perry at the Echo Arena where he’ll pretend to not know all the lyrics and I’ll learn the entire Fratelli’s back catalogue for when he takes me to the Liverpool Olympia…..ahh the things we do for love eh?

He’ll hold my hand and rip me for being close to tears at Farmageddon, and he’ll hold my hair when I’ve had it a bit too large at Reminisce. We’ll be the among the first to toast Christmas 2018 with a mulled wine at Liverpool ONE and we’ll end up on our arses on the ice rink at the Liverpool Christmas Ice Festival.

Yep I’ve got it all planned out…..all I need now is a fella!
