It’s the most magical time of the year and if you’re not quite ready for rollers, jarmies and gin, here’s how you can spend Christmas Eve in Liverpool.

The presents are wrapped, the turkey is prepped and you’ve peeled enough sprouts to feed an army, it is of course Christmas Eve in Liverpool. We’ve pulled together the best nights out, dining deals, panto’s and Christmas experiences to tire out the kids (and big kids) before the magic happens.

Dates & Mates

Pre-Christmas cocktails and a night on the town with the girls or an intimate, festive dinner for two before the family chaos begins, here’s our top pics for dates and mates.

1 – Wake Me Up Before You Go Ho Ho, BrewDog

BrewDog, Colquitt St will be blasting out classic George Michael from 12pm on Christmas Eve in this WhiteChapel Fundraising event. The staff will be dressed as their fave George and you’re invited to Wham it up too! Donation item list and more info here. 

2 – ParrJazz Festive Christmas Eve Brunch at Ma Boyle’s

How do you fancy a festive brunch and a bit of live swing from ParrJazz’s Rob Stringer on Christmas Eve? There’s still some spaces at Ma Boyles for this classy celebration ahead of the big day. Find out more and book here. 

3 – Christmas Eve Party, Pogue Mahone

5 –  Insomnia Christmas Eve Rave, CIRCO

If you’re up for a bit of raving and misbehaving on Christmas Eve in Liverpool, CIRCO is the place to be! Insomnia returns with a huge line up of DJ’s including Tony Hughes, Tekla, Lee Bullock and more. Click here for tickets. 

6 – It’s A Wonderful Life, The Liverpool Philharmonic Hall

Liverpool Philharmonic Hall is showing classic Christmas film, It’s A Wonderful Life on Xmas eve from at 11am and 2pm. Grab some munchies and try not to blub! Book here. 

7 – Carole-oke at Bar Hutte, Liverpool ONE

If there’s a more festive way to celebrate Christmas than under a massive tree, singing Christmas karaoke while eating pigs in blankets and drinking mulled wine…..we don’t want to know! Book a booth at Bar Hutte on Christmas Eve and do Santa proud. Info here. 

8 – No Turkey Curry at Silk Rd

Don’t be worrying about cooking on Christmas Eve, instead why not take a unique journey of flavours, drink & soul that can be found along the route that ran from the Pacific of East China to the Mediterranean! 9 – Christmas Eve Bash, Yates Queen Square

10 – Spymonkey’s A Christmas Carol, Playhouse Theatre

What the Dickens? This is A Christmas Carol like never before. Expect mad costumes, 40 characters played by 4 amazing actors, a live band, hilarious comedy and a gyroscope! A Christmas tradition with a 21st century twist! Tickets here.

Family Fun

The kids are bursting with excitement and showing no signs of an early night! So here’s our top suggestions for tiring them out with some precious family time before it’s Christmas Eve keepsake box, new pjays and bed!

1 – Story Time with Santa

Father Christmas is taking up temporary residence at Liverpool Town Hall as Story Time With Santa returns, and Christmas Eve is your last chance to make a wish! Children are invited to enjoy a festive story and a sing song with the big man himself in this stunning venue. Sessions are approx. 45 mins long, tickets here. 

2 – Snow White at The Epstein

A morning, afternoon or evening spent booing, hissing, singing and clapping along to Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs will most definitely tire the kids out on Christmas Eve. Get you tickets for the 10am, 1:30pm or 5:30pm showings here.

3 – Carols for Christmas Eve, Liverpool Cathedral

There are two, family friendly carols services at Liverpool Cathedral, 2pm and 4pm on Christmas Eve, and what a wonderful way to spend a couple of hours together as a family. There’s free entry but no parking on site. More info here.

4 – Christmas Eve PJ Party, Spring City

There’s a Christmas PJ Party happening at Spring City on 24th and this is your ticket to the chance of a lie in on Christmas morning! It’s £15 a head and each 2 hour session includes music, bouncing, feasting and endless Christmas cheer! More info here. 

5 – Light Up, Polaris Chavasse Park

Wrap up warm and take the kids for a bit of fresh air at Liverpool ONE to check out Polaris at Chavasse Park. This huge light installation looks incredible after dark and will make a fab backdrop for a festive family photo. More info here. 

6 – Breakfast with Santa at Otterspool Adventure

Now how about this for the ultimate Christmas Eve treat!? Santa has just enough time to stop in at Otterspool Adventure for a huge brekkie with all the boys and girls on the nice list, before he takes to his sleigh. Click here to book your place at the table. 

7 – Liverpool’s Famous Grotto, St John’s Market

Whether you’ve been to see Santa or just fancy a trip to the north pole, head to Liverpool’s Famous Grotto at St John’s to experience this wonderful walk through attraction that’s been wowing kids and adults alike for decades. More info here. 

8 – Christmas Eve with Santa, Sir Thomas Hotel

Sir Thomas is hosting a fabulous, great value event on Christmas Eve. You’re invited to meet the elves, dance and dine, meet Santa and enjoy Home Alone, from 2pm til 6pm all for £1295 per child. More info and booking here. 

9 – Green Beans Interactive Story Time, Alder Hey

Green Bean & Friends Author Anita Frost will be at Alder hey Children’s hospital on Christmas Eve to host an interactive story time session for kids ages 1-7. Llittle ones will love to meet Green Bean & Mr Bear while listening to the wonderful stories from the Green Bean Collection. More info here.
