How to have the perfect day out with your other half in Liverpool this Christmas?

Wanting to feel the love around town this Christmas? In need of some last minute brownie points from the other half because you’ve been out without them too much?

Time to cosy up and see what is on offer for couples this Crimbo in Liverpool.

Shopping in Liverpool ONE

We’re sure that you’ve still got some last minute Christmas shopping to do and Liverpool is on hand to cater to your list’s every need. Take the time to wander through the beautifully decorated central hub for shopping, linking arms as you go and struggling with ideas on what to get for the in-laws. Not only is the area dressed up delightfully, but with shops ranging from the Disney store to Anne Summers and everything in between, you really will find something for anyone and everyone!

St. George’s Hall

The Liverpool Christmas Market is now staying open for an extra day and won’t close until Saturday 23rd December. And, if this seasonal staple of the city isn’t enough, then check out the selection of screenings put on by the folks at St. George’s Hall this Christmas. From the 21st – 23rd December there are 2 screenings a day in this perfectly picturesque picture house.

Skating at the Ice Festival

The Pier Head has been transformed into a winter wonderland this December. There is obviously a lot for families to get involved in with the Ice Slide and Santa’s Grotto, however the main event is definitely one that will sweep your other half off their feet…Ice Skating. After you’ve shown how smooth you are (not) on the ice, head into the Ice Bar, or the snuggly den that is the Après Lodge if you’ve had enough ice for one day, for a warming wintry tipple. Plan your visit here.

Romantic Meal

Liverpool ONE has lots of choice when it comes to cosy-ing up with the other half for some festive food, watch our L1 Food Guide above. Also Bistro Pierre, in the heart of Mathew Street, is one of the most romantic restaurants in the city with its French theme and amazing festive menu with Boeuf Bourguignon being a stand out. Hope Street’s Frederiks is close behind, providing a Nordic escape for you to forget about the world outside. The only thing more magical than the fire-lit room is the food itself, which gives you classic Christmas crackers with an innovative twist.

Check out the menus and book for Bistro Pierre here and Fredericks here.

Pudding at the Cosy Club

Cosy Club Liverpool ( 8th December 2016 )

You’ve just had a tiring, yet productive day of shopping. Maybe you’ve ticked off everything on your list and have a little room left in your stomach after a romantic meal. Now what? We’ll tell you what – dessert in the Cosy Club, overlooking the famous Love Heart Christmas Tree on Paradise Street. The Cosy Club is a perfect fairytale stop that makes you feel all snug as you’re treated to an unrivalled view of the lusciously lit shopping strip that you just tackled. Desserts at this place are second to none with the Cosy Sundae, Warm Chocolate Brownie and possibly the best Sticky Toffee Pudding in the city. Splash out and get into something Mulled at the same time.

Christmas Films at FACT

Is there a more iconic date than going to the movies? We don’t think so, so why not recreate one of your first dates in festive fashion by heading down to FACT on Wood Street? Throughout December the Picture House Cinema is screening an array of Christmas films, including The Muppets Christmas Carol (23rd & 24th) and It’s A Wonderful Life (22nd, 23rd, 24th), to get you in the holiday mood. You won’t need mistletoe in this one, just try that smooth ‘arm over the back of the seat’ move that worked so well way back when. Book your tickets now: https://www.fact.co.uk/whats-on.aspx?selection=Film&when=next7days

Home Alone Bar

If you’re the type of couple that is after something a little different, then this may be the one for you. Immerse yourself into  Ghetto Golf’s new, pop up, Home Alone Bar. As if the graffiti covered Ghetto Golf wasn’t enough, the folks at Cain’s Brewery have transformed the warehouse into Kevin McCallister’s world, and it truly is a sight to behold. There is live music, themed drinks, food on offer and plenty to feast your eyes upon. Book your tickets here before it’s too late.

Unwrapping Christmas on Albert Dock

Finish off your romantic day out by strolling down the waterfront and checking out the Albert Dock’s Christmas lights with a bonus. As you keep each other walk on the frosty riverside, you’ll come to the Dr Martin Luther King Jr building which has been transformed into a canvas for an intricate light projection centred around the theme of “Unwrapping Christmas on Albert Dock”. The aim is to capture your imagination and whisk you away on a fantastical journey of storytelling, which the installation certainly achieves, finishing off your romantic Christmas day-out in unrivalled fashion. The strand and docklands already look like something out of a storybook with the usual Christmas lights, but this takes things up a level and is a must see in the city this Christmas.

Liverpool has everything that a gooey eyed couple need, as well as even more for those who are veterans of their own relationship, especially during the festive period. So, take the time out of your busy schedule this Christmas and escape from the madness with the one you love. There’s not long left before the big day, though, so what are you waiting for?
