A huge vintage pop-up is coming to Liverpool this weekend with more than 60 rails full of fashions ranging from ‘70s to Y2K.

Glass Onion Vintage is taking over Invisible Wind Factory on Sunday April 21 with a daytime event for dedicated vintage fans and anyone who just wants to shop pre-loved and loves finding a bargain.

This will be Glass Onion’s third pop-up in Liverpool, specialising in trend-led branded vintage, streetwear and sportswear.

There’ll be curated deals rails, where clothes are categorised into items like 70s boho, skirts, sweatshirts, knits and jeans. Everything on those rails will be priced from £10, and if you buy two of the same price you save a fiver, so it could be two for £15 – meaning there’s an extra incentive to buy a couple, or just double-up with a mate.

For shoppers looking for something a bit more rare and high-end, the event will also have a separate boutique area stocked with hand-picked premium pieces and some which have been remade by an in-house sewing team.

This will be Glass Onion’s first time at Invisible Wind Factory after two previous dates at the Blackie in the city centre.

The company, which is based in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, has been going for around 17 years, and doing pop-ups across the country for almost three.

Events manager Emily Lewis explains: “We’re now one of the UK’s largest vintage retailers, so alongside our own retail – we have two shops in Sheffield – we wanted to create a really easy to shop event.

“Instead of a kilo sale, which lots of people are familiar with, where you have to work out how much things weigh and you’re not really sure about price or budget, we’ve tried to keep things really simple.

“Everything is hung, washed, priced, clearly tagged, and ready to go so if you’ve got a budget it’s really easy to work out what you can get.

“We have about 40 rails in the deals area, which is great for bargain-hunters, and about 20 in the curated boutique area.”

Emily says the event brings together vintage devotees and newcomers who are looking to switch to pre-loved either for environmental or price reasons.

“Everything we sell is trend-led 70s to Y2K, these are trends that are reflecting what’s currently popular on the high street, so you don’t have to buy from high street chains you can support an independent and shop sustainably instead.

“Vintage shopping has changed so much over the last few years, with so many more younger people choosing to buy secondhand because they don’t want to look the same. It’s become more mainstream than ever before which is exciting.

“You used to have to hustle in charity shops to find things because there wasn’t Vinted, not as many vintage shops, not these kind of events, but now we’re pulling it all together and presenting it in this really accessible way.

“We get avid vintage fans who’ve been into it for years, but we also get people coming to our events who’ve never shopped vintage or secondhand before and are really just looking for a bargain.

“They want a sustainable and affordable way to get some cool clothes or a particular brand which is amazing, and that’s why we do it.”
