I’m A Celebrity 2020: What we know so far

The new series of I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here! will begin next month, but this year things will be very different!

The countdown to the new series of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! is on as ITV launch a brand new trailer for the show.

A video posted on ITV’s Twitter page showed presenters Ant and Dec searching for the filming location for the programme.

Where will it be filmed?

The upcoming series, which will air next month, is being filmed in the UK for the first time after production was moved from Australia to the UK because of coronavirus restrictions. The location is  Gwrych Castle in Conwy, Wales.

The sprawling castle, complete with turrets, is nestled on a tree-lined hillside overlooking the Irish Sea and is spread across 250 acres of gardens and grounds.

According to the castle’s official website, the towering structure was built between 1812 and 1822 by Lloyd Hesketh Bamford-Hesketh.

They say the building was a memorial to his mother’s ancestors, the Lloyds of Gwrych.

What about coronavirus?

It was confirmed in August that I’m A Celebrity would be filmed in the UK and last month ITV said the programme “continues to adhere to all relevant guidelines” after additional coronavirus restrictions were introduced in Wales.

Will the trials return?

Ant and Dec will host an adapted version of the gruelling competition show in which celebrities face trials and challenges to win food and treats in the lead-up to one of them being crowned king or queen of the castle, rather than the jungle.

Which celebs are rumoured to be taking part?

Soap star Shane Richie will reportedly star in this year’s series of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! alongside Olympic hero Sir Mo Farah, actress Ruthie Henshall and BBC presenter Victoria Derbyshire.

Former Strictly Come Dancing pro AJ Pritchard, presenter Vernon Kay, Coronation Street star Beverley Callard, opera star Russel Watson, and EastEnders actress Jessica Plummer have also been tipped to take part.

The trailer sees Ant and Dec walking in the rain wearing waterproofs as they try to find their way to the camp using a map.

“Well this is the coldest summer in Australia ever,” said Dec.

Ant then uses his phone to try to find the filming location before it plays back a message to him in Welsh.

The show is due to start next month.
