In Demand Radio launches on DAB across Liverpool and we met Lee Butler at the new studios
4 years ago
In Demand Radio is a brand new DAB radio station for Liverpool and the North West and it officially launches on Monday 8 November. Watch above as we join Lee Butler at the brand new studios on Merseyside.
At In Demand, former Radio City DJ and co-founder of Reminisce, Lee Butler will taking prime position, hosting the ‘Brekky Butler’ weekday breakfast show, as well as a weekend dance show and his legendary Sunday afternoon show. He will also be collaborating on the station’s programming policy.
Admitting it felt like a big risk to leave one of the biggest commercial radio stations in the UK, Lee explained why he made the decision “When you tune into your local radio station you want to hear a local voice or those big anthems that connect with the people of Liverpool and the North West. At In Demand, I will have the total creative freedom to do that. I feel the time is right for me to throw my heart and soul into building a radio station from the ground up that will feel like radio is coming home to Liverpool.”
The rest of the line up includes a mix of local names the North West knows and loves like Baz Todd doing drive time and The Guide Liverpool’s Jay Hynd taking over the evening show, Mon-Thursday 7-9pm, alongside big names from the club scene such as Tiesto, Dave Pearce, Judge Jules and Roger Sanchez. Bongo’s Bingo hosts Jonny Bongo and Rich Furness also take on a weekly show.
Weekend DJ’s include Ian Longo, Dave graham, Liam Hincks, Pez Tellet, Sie Austin, Spycatcha, Ian Redman and more. The Guide Liverpool’s Gemma will also host Saturday afternoons from 12pm.
On the station launching right at the beginning of the new COVID restrictions, Lee added “We’re gonna dance our way through lockdown. Swap the safe boring songs on repeat for super shiny anthems. From the most amazing old skool memories to the funkiest and hottest new releases. It’s time to re tune your radio and turn it up!”
