The legendary detective returns to the stage at Liverpool’s Playhouse Theatre in Inspector Morse: House of Ghosts, a gripping new theatre production packed with mystery, suspense, and shocking secrets.
Set behind the scenes of a live theatre performance, the story begins when a young actress suddenly dies on stage, sending shockwaves through the cast and audience alike. What first appears to be a tragic accident quickly draws the attention of Detective Chief Inspector Morse, whose investigation soon uncovers something far more sinister.
As Morse and the ever-reliable DS Lewis dig deeper, the case takes a chilling turn. Disturbing clues link the present-day mystery to dark events from Morse’s own past with secrets buried for more than twenty-five years. With truth and deception blurring, Morse must confront the ghosts that refuse to stay hidden.

Stepping into the iconic role of Morse is Chambers, joined by actor and rapper Tachia Newall, best known as fan favourite Bolton Smilie in Waterloo Road, with roles in Coronation Street and Doctor Who, as the sharp and loyal DS Lewis, bringing fresh energy to this classic detective partnership.
The outstanding cast also includes Charlotte Randle as Verity, Teresa Banham as Ellen, James Gladdon as Freddy, Spin Glancy as Justin, and Josh Katembela making his touring theatre debut. They are joined by Robert Mountford in dual roles, Olivia Onyehara as Harriet, and Eliza Teale as Rebecca.
Director Anthony Banks says:
“I’m incredibly excited to work with this fantastic cast as they bring these much-loved characters to life and truly make them their own. Alma Cullen’s story features a brilliant play-within-a-play — an inspired concept that reveals striking similarities between acting a role and covering up a crime.”
