International Song Contest for Kindness final at legendary Cavern Club


Ten musicians who have reached the final of a major international song writing competition are gathering this weekend at Liverpool’s legendary Cavern Club.

The venue on Mathew Street was made famous by The Beatles and countless other famous musicians have graced its stage, including Elton John, The Rolling Stones, Queen and Adele.

Inspired by John Lennon’s global hit and peace anthem, Imagine, international charity launched the International Song Contest for Kindness on what would have been the former Beatle’s 80th birthday, 9 October 2020, looking for a new song of hope and optimism.

More than 1500 songs from 28 countries have now been whittled down to the top 10 and each will be performed this Saturday, 9 October 2021, 3 – 4.30pm.

The finalists are as follows:

  • Rhona Macfarlane, Glasgow, Scotland: Remembrance Listen
  • Tony McCaldon, Liverpool, England: You can always come home Listen
  • Taofeek Oyeyemi (Tbaze), Nigeria: Alubarika Listen
  • Neil Thomas, London, England: I’m Not Sitting Down Listen
  • Jonny Fowlds, Wirral, England: In the end Listen
  • Zsuzi & Anth, Melbourne Australia: Helping Hand Listen
  • Sabine Maries, Queensland, Australia: Diggers and Dreamers Listen
  • Paulin Skoglund-Voss, Drobak, Norway: The River Listen
  • Adonye Banigo, Edinburgh, Scotland: New Life Listen
  • James Holt, Bolton, England: Make My Day Listen
