Invisible Wind Factory & Make Liverpool to host new immersive arts festival
2 hours ago
OUTER WAVES is a new alternative arts festival designed to fill a cultural gap in Liverpool’s existing festival landscape.
Inspired by the city’s rich underground music and art history, our aim is to celebrate and strengthen Liverpool’s grassroots creative communities while inviting international artists and audiences to participate. By blending live music, visual arts, interactive performances, and educational initiatives, OUTER WAVES will not only provide an unforgettable festival experience but will also foster long-term cultural and community development. Debuting at Make Liverpool & Invisible Wind Factory, Outer Waves will transform Liverpool’s iconic North Docks into a two-day celebration of alternative music and experimental arts showcasing cutting-edge performances and innovative collaborations, offering audiences an immersive experience unlike anything in the city.
The first wave of artists announced includes legendary progressive rock pioneers Gong, Liverpool’s experimental percussion ensemble Ex-Easter Island Head, post-punk noise tech quartet Mandy, Indiana, visceral electronic artist AJA Ireland and the genre-blurring Abstract Concrete. Local and regional talent will also shine, with performances from high energy electronic duo Silverwingkiller, punk provocateurs Coughin Vicars, and darkwave duo Those Holy.
They have an innovative arts programme, commissioned work and a whole raft of acts still to announce over the coming months.
Outer Waves is currently supported by Liverpool City Region, Fatsoma & The Musicians Union.
