Is Union 22 Liverpool’s modern day Wade Smith?
Luxury designer retailer Union 22, based in Union House on Victoria Street, is fast becoming Liverpool’s answer to a modern day Wade Smith.
The store’s director John-Paul Cooper has a plethora of experience in designer menswear fashion including managing Wade Smith itself, and being manager of both Hugo Boss and Flannels.
He has brought his expertise to Union 22 which is home to over 25 different luxurious brands including Tom Ford, Lardini and Brioni – it’s the fourth stockist in the UK of the prestigious Italian designer and the only one outside of London.
Wade Smith dominated the city’s designer fashion market from 1981 to 2005, and was met with overwhelming disappointment when it closed its doors. Once the leader in designer menswear, Wade Smith was familiar with those fashion conscious or not.
Yet with Wade Smith history, Union 22, which recently expanded to now operate across two floors, is the new place where men with style gather.
The retailer has introduced exclusive brands to Merseyside, giving guests a diverse offer from those who focus on British Heritage to Italian style. John-Paul frequently flies to Italy and beyond to return with favourites including John Smedley, Ermenegildo Zegna and Armani Colleezioni to Liverpool.
Union 22 is committed to delivering outstanding service so that their guests enjoy an excellent, tailored experience each time they visit.
The team, spearheaded by John-Paul, is dedicated to finding the finest in understated and contemporary luxury from around the world to bring Merseyside effortlessly stylish menswear.
John-Paul said: “In its heyday, Wade Smith was the pinnacle of menswear fashion in Liverpool. Since its departure, the city has been craving an alternative and I’m certain Union 22 provides that.
“With the store offering shoppers brands that you simply cannot get anywhere else in the city, it’s the absolute must-visit for any man with style.”
