It’s a movie lovers dream this March in Liverpool

March is Oscar’s month, so celebrate by treating yourself to a month of unique screenings and something special in the cinema.

As the awards take place, the contenders begin leaving our cinemas, so make sure you’ve ticked them all off your list, and then continue into what is another show stealing month for film on Merseyside.

Farm Yard Flicks, Claremont Farm – 3rd/4th March

To kick things off this month we head over the water, to Birkenhead, for this exciting new season of screenings, hosted by Claremont Farm who have teamed up with Empty Spaces Cinema, Snips, Live for Films and The Bonsai Hi-Fi Sound System. The 3rd March sees an afternoon, family screening of Disney classic, The Lion King, followed by an 18+ screening of the John Carpenter’s Creature Feature, The Thing. Sunday 4th March sees the final screening of the weekend as we are treated to Alfred Hitchcock’s 1954 Crime-Thriller, Dail M For Murder. These are sure to be something special with a bar and snacks available on sight. Choose the flick for you here and help make sure there are plenty more of these to come.

The Big Lebowski, Leaf – 7th March

We’re happy to feature Leaf on Bold Street in the Cinema Guide for the first time with this screening of The Big Lebowski. On 7th March this sumptuous city centre setting are offering a delicious selection of sharing platters and drinks for you to settle down with to watch this Cohen Brothers Comedy classic. The platters are both sweet and savoury and are included in the ticket price, so you’re definitely won’t feel like anyone is mugging you off, unlike in the film. Tickets available here.

Sing-along, FACT This March

FACT are known in the city for their innovative approach to film and media, and they’re at it again. This March our local art-house is offering sing-along screenings of Moana and The Greatest Showman for those who can’t help but sing along to the show stopping tunes. The sing-along screenings of Moana are part of the Picturehouses Kids Club on Saturday 10th March, 11am, and an Autism Friendly screening the same time the next day. As for The Greatest Showman, you can catch that later the same day, Sunday 11th March, at 15:30. Tickets for Moana are available here, and The Greatest Showman, here.

From Hamelin to Hogwarts, The Philharmonic Hall – 11th March

The latest from the Liverpool Philharmonic Family Concerts allows the whole family to experience a full symphony orchestra performing live, proving that you don’t need words to tell a tale, and some of the best known tales in the world at that.  You’ll hear tales of Hamelin and Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings, the Cat in the Hat, Alice in Wonderland and the King’s New Clothes, all without using a single word…well maybe a word or two. Tickets are limited so make sure you snap them up here. Children are even invited to have a go on a variety of instruments 30 minutes before each concert at the Phil’s self names “Instrument Petting Zoo”. Book your tickets here.
