It’s Pop-Up Story Time this Easter in Liverpool

Stories, songs and silliness are on offer for families during the Easter Half Term in Liverpool.

On Wednesday 4 April from midday to 3pm, 12 venues across Liverpool will host free Pop-Up Story Time events. Aimed in particular at children up to the age of 11 years old, there’s no need to book and families can just drop in to the sessions at any time.

From ‘That’s Not My Chick’ by Fiona Watt to ‘The Day the Crayons Quit’ by Drew Daywalt to ‘Springtime Stories’ by Enid Blyton there will be something for everyone to enjoy!

The 12 venues taking part are:

  • Liverpool Central Library
  • Pleasant Street Primary School
  • Wavertree Children’s Centre, Wellington Road
  • Penny Lane Development Trust
  • Hunts Cross Children’s Centre, Kingsthorne Road
  • Isla Gladstone Bandstand, Stanley Park
  • Netherley Youth and Community Initiative, Damson Road
  • Childwall and Woolton Children’s Centre, Rudston Road
  • Walton Life Rooms and Library, Evered Avenue
  • Tuebrook Children’s Centre, Lower Breck Road
  • Croxteth Community Library, Altcross Road
  • St Andrew’s Church, Queens Drive

The sessions have been funded by the Mayor of Liverpool and local ward Councillors.

Councillor Rachael O’Byrne, Assistant Cabinet Member for Education said: “It’s been fantastic to have so much support for this huge free event from local Councillors, community venues libraries and Children’s Centres! We can’t wait to welcome children and their families to their local event to read for pleasure!”

Jessica Buxton from The Bookworm Players said “We are delighted to be able to provide the City with exciting and engaging storytelling once again. It is an absolute joy to inspire little Bookworms to read and play and ignite imaginations.
