Whether you’re expecting a baby or you’ve got a newborn, there’s so much to learn and so many different opinions on what’s best.
That’s why John Lewis has its All Things Baby service – to take away the uncertainty and confusion with simple, impartial, expert advice.
All Things Baby helps parents-to-be discover tailor-made options for their lifestyle and budget, from the early stages of pregnancy right through to toddler and pre-school.
From small purchases for a nursery to larger items like a cot or pushchair, John Lewis Liverpool’s team of advisors can make personalised recommendations and create a bespoke wishlist for customers.
Pre-planning takes away all of stress, spreads the cost and avoids any last-minute shopping dashes – and the wishlist can be a great guide for baby showers and gift buying too.
As with all of John Lewis’s services, there’s no obligation to spend and customers can book as many appointments as they like. They can be done in person in the Liverpool ONE store, or virtually, whatever’s more convenient, and it’s not just parents-to-be and new parents who can benefit from the service, grandparents are also welcome to go along and get involved.
All Things Baby has four different appointment types:
Need to Know is designed for customers who have particular questions, want advice or want to know more about something specific.
New Baby A-Z is a helpful guide for anyone who’s struggling to know where to start when they’re preparing for a baby or multiple babies. Advisors will talk through everything that’s likely to be needed.
Out and About is all about travel solutions, including pushchairs and car seats.
Baby and Beyond is for after the baby has arrived. It covers weening, sleep solutions, and all the milestones ranging from four or five months to four or five years, including first shoe fitting.
“We understand that having a baby is an expensive time, so we know it helps to stagger purchases and plan over the months,” says Lora Johnson at John Lewis Liverpool.
“By using our All Things Baby service, customers can shop over a period of time, in a relaxed way, and the team can co-ordinate deliveries to come after the due date to make things as easy as possible.”
As an added bonus, John Lewis members attending an All Things Baby appointment receive 10% off purchases over ÂŁ750 or 15% off purchases over ÂŁ1,500 on nursery and babywear (terms & conditions & exclusions apply).
So, what is one all-important piece of advice the John Lewis Liverpool team gives parents-to-be?
“Tailor your pram to your lifestyle,” says Keri Bowness. “Some prams and pushchairs have all terrain wheels, ideal if you get out and about in the countryside, others have wheels designed for city streets, so think about where you’ll be spending most of your time.
“And don’t feel that you need to buy everything!” adds Shelley Allen. “We can talk you through the baby essentials and provide a personalised shopping list after the appointment to get you started, but the key is to try not to get overwhelmed.”
