Kids go free at Liverpool Celebrates for Sunday
18 hours ago

One of Liverpool’s biggest new summer events is making sure families are at the heart of the action this August Bank Holiday – with kids going free on Sunday for the Liverpool Celebrates festival at the Pier Head.
Set against one of the most iconic backdrops in the city, Liverpool Celebrates promises a packed weekend of live music, street food, entertainment, and fun for all ages – and now organisers have announced a special offer that means up to three children aged 14 and under can get in free with every paying adult on Sunday 25 August.
With a line-up featuring legendary names, top tribute artists, and family-friendly entertainment from afternoon into evening, Liverpool Celebrates is shaping up to be one of the best-value events in the city this summer.
What’s on across the weekend
The festival kicks off on Saturday 24 August, with a line-up that spans decades of music legends and global hits. Expect performances from Tony Hadley – best known as the voice of Spandau Ballet – alongside the legendary Sister Sledge featuring Kathy Sledge. Also taking to the stage will be flamenco-pop icons The Gipsy Kings and homegrown soul sensations The Real Thing, recently recognised as Citizens of Honour in their hometown of Liverpool.
Sunday’s schedule shifts the spotlight to families, with a daytime vibe packed with singalong hits and high-energy entertainment for every generation. Local favourite Johnny Bongo will host a special Bongo’s Bingo session, reimagined as a more family-friendly version of the much-loved party experience.

After that, it’s wall-to-wall pop and soul anthems as some of the UK’s best tribute artists take over the stage. Expect fan favourites from Taylor Swift, Amy Winehouse, ABBA, Whitney Houston and Sabrina Carpenter – all brought to life in a way that will have the whole Pier Head singing along.
A full family day out – and kids go free
Festival Director Daniel Sanders says this year’s event was designed to make Sunday a standout day for families, with entertainment to suit all ages and a price point that makes it accessible to more people.
He said:
“We wanted this year’s festival to focus on families and make Sunday an affordable day out with top quality entertainment suitable for everyone. Johnny Bongo will bring his usual energy and fun, and the line-up of tribute artists are genuinely some of the best in the business. We’ve made sure there’s something for all generations to enjoy.”
And it’s not just the music keeping families entertained. The Sunday programme also includes face painters, stilt walkers, roaming entertainers and a range of street food stalls offering flavours from across the world, alongside plenty of sweet treats to keep younger visitors happy.

Gates open at 1pm, and the full day of entertainment is included with your entry – making this one of the most affordable big-ticket events for families in the region this summer.
Bank Holiday Monday brings back the Mathew Street magic
On Monday 26 August, the weekend wraps up with a special Cavern Club tribute to Mathew Street Festival, bringing back the much-loved spirit of the iconic event that filled Liverpool’s city centre with live music for years.
Taking to the Pier Head stage will be some of the best tribute bands from across Europe, performing the music of The Beatles, Fleetwood Mac, Billy Joel and more. It’s the perfect Bank Holiday Monday soundtrack for Liverpool music lovers.
