Knowsley’s Incredible Edible host community action day with the help of Kimpton
2 weeks ago

Incredible Edible in Knowsley hosted a community action day on Friday, supported by Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning experts Kimpton.
The community hub aim to be ‘Growing food with the community, for the community’ and during the cost of living crisis Kimpton has come on board to help Incredible Edible reduce water and electricity costs, as well as make them more environmentally sustainable using renewable solar energy and rainwater harvesting systems.
Karen Mower, CEO of Incredible Edible in Knowsley said:
“It’s fantastic when businesses like Kimpton support us. Kimpton are helping us reduce our bills by looking at recommissioning our solar panels and rain water harvesting system which will then reduce our water use and reduce our electricity bills, which will really help us during the cost of living crisis.

We’re also very focused on sustainability. Growing local food and getting it to the local community, so harnessing solar power and rainwater for reuse and irrigation of the food we grow, will help us become even more sustainable.
Kimpton joined our community action day which we are very grateful for. All their support helps us to grow fresh food which we give away free to the local community, provide our food club where 10 items can be purchased for just £3.50, donate seedlings to 500 local homes, schools and community groups to get them growing their own food, and become the ‘community village’ we want to be, helping reduce social isolation, improve the mental health of those visiting us, and generally support the people of Knowsley”

Matt Breakwell, Kimpton said:
“Kimpton have a long-standing history of supporting the local community in any way we can and were delighted to be part of the community action day. Any way we can help this already fantastic organisation become even more self-sufficient and sustainable we are proud to be a part of, and will continue to support them long-term in any way we can. The work they do to support the people of Knowsley is so important, feeding local people, getting them involved with the growing process, and helping reduce social isolation of individuals as they join in with the efforts and improve their mental health.”
As a family run business, innovation in renewable technology as well as supporting the Liverpool City Region community remains core to Kimpton’s way of working. They are celebrating 60 years since they launched this year, as well as 60 years of doing the right thing by their employees, the environment and the local community.
