Attendees can enjoy performances by award-winning artists from Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Mexico, Peru, and Venezuela.
Explore the Reclama Exhibition from Ecuador, documenting the heritage of Afro-descendant and Black women in Esmeraldas Province. This informative exhibition delves into themes of religious and spiritual practices, food and gastronomy, and aesthetics and celebrates the many diverse aspects of their collective heritage.
Performed by Ephemeral Ensemble, La Feria will present a limited showing of the critically acclaimed “REWIND,” a multi-award-winning theatre piece that combines music, movement, puppetry, and innovative lighting to tell the intimate story of Alicia, a young woman who dared to resist authoritarianism.
Two consecutive evenings of live performances will feature some of the most acclaimed Latin American musicians, guaranteed to leave audiences truly mesmerised. Experience the dynamic talents of Nano Stern, a Chilean artist who is a leading figure in contemporary South American songwriting. As a multi-instrumentalist, singer, and composer, Nano Stern’s work seamlessly blends roots music, folk, rock, jazz, trova, and musical experimentation, creating a captivating and extraordinary sound.
That same evening Liverpool will be transported by Marta Gomez, a Colombian singer-songwriter who flawlessly combines a musical blend of jazz and Latin-American folk rhythms. Her music, influenced by legendary figures such as Violeta Parra, Mercedes Sosa, and Carol King, presents a rich medley of colours and tones that emanate beautifully from her guitar.
The excitement continues the following evening with Hamilton de Holanda, a virtuoso Brazilian musician whose brilliance and uniqueness have earned him multiple Latin Grammys. Hamilton’s performances span continents and genres, from Jazz at Lincoln Center to symphony orchestras and rock/pop festivals worldwide, making him a star in Brazil and beyond. His innovative improvisations and compositions are sure to inspire and enchant audiences.
Latin American Street Fiesta and Taste of Latin America are both free events that celebrate the wealth of diversities and awe-inspiring cultures of the continent. Enjoy captivating performances by local and national musicians and dancers, including Luma Creation’s dance group, showcasing a variety of traditional pieces.
Dance groups from across the country including Colibri Mexican Folkloric Dance Group will also join the celebration, offering their interpretations of Latin dance styles.
