Laros Greek eatery to open new site in South Liverpool
2 years ago
Laros is expanding to Mossley Hill in South Liverpool and will open on Storrsdale Road this Friday 23rd September.
Opening in the heart of South Liverpool, Laros’ Mossley Hill venue will be open everyday and is extending its menu even further, serving Greek pastries and coffee for the first time from 10am as well as its new dedicated vegan menu named Laros Green.
Its renowned, authentic Greek menu including its popular gyros, souvlaki and fresh Greek salads will be available to eat in or takeaway (collection and delivery) from 10am until 10pm Monday to Thursday, 10am until 10-30pm Friday and Saturday and 10am until 9.30pm on Sundays.
The first of its kind, Laros is a hybrid between a restaurant and takeaway, with beautiful interiors that are reminiscent of Greece for those who are dining in, as well as delicious dishes that can be enjoyed at home.
Owner Nikolaos Fylladitakis has worked in the hospitality industry for many years, owning his own restaurants in the city. He opened Laros’ Bold Street site in May 2021, and within six months had expanded into Manchester, opening a dark kitchen in Ardwick to offer the highest quality, authentic Greek cuisine to the area via delivery.
Originally from Crete, the restaurateur is keen to showcase authentic Greek dishes and produce, with the majority of Laros’ ingredients sourced and imported from Greece itself including its meat, dairy and drinks including Greek wines, beers and soft drinks.
Other ingredients that cannot come from Greece, are locally sourced using trusted independents.
Laros’ menu staples include delicious chicken or pork gyros and chicken or pork souvlaki skewers. It’s a place where people can enjoy the ease of street food, whilst also experiencing the essence of fine cuisine.
The Greek eatery is inclusive to all by being both family and dog-friendly, as well as launching a new and dedicated vegan and vegetarian menu to ensure that everyone can enjoy the authentic, delicious dishes from Greece.
Laros Green is made up of carefully created vegan dishes that don’t contain any artificial or processed ingredients; everything is made from natural, high quality produce, echoing Laros’ main menu that contains only the highest quality ingredients where they source as much meat and dairy from Greece itself, before turning to trusted, independent suppliers for everything else.
Laros Green’s vegan ingredients have been expertly handled in-house to emulate flavours including cheese and meat with everything made fresh on-site daily.
Dishes including Laros’ signature gyros are a menu staple for Laros Green, with four different filling options including their most flavoursome vegan alternative; marinated oyster mushrooms cooked in gyros spices with tomatoes, lettuce, red onion, fries and vegan tzatziki. Other gyros fillings include Revithokeftedes (chickpea fritters), Kolokithokeftedes (courgette fritters) and Ntomatokeftedes (tomato cakes).
There’s also a range of delicious salads, sides and sauces; both vegan and non vegan as well as their signature Loukoumades that Laros has introduced to the North West for the very first time.
Loukoumades are little sweet Greek donut balls served traditionally with honey syrup and chopped walnuts but Laros has put its own twist on the classic with the addition of lavender to its honey syrup. Laros’ other variations include white chocolate and hazelnut or milk chocolate, pistachio and vegan Loukoumades with agave syrup.
On opening on Storrsdale Road, Nikolaos Fylladitakis explained: “We’re really excited to be opening in the heart of South Liverpool and can’t wait to welcome the local neighbourhood and beyond to Laros. We want to continue to share real, authentic Greek cuisine with our guests, made with only the highest quality ingredients and fresh each time.
“Our menu has something for everyone; from delicious meat and vegan gyros, to succulent souvlaki skewers, vegan courgette fritters and tomato cakes, fresh Greek salads and our popular Talagani cheese fries (these are better than halloumi!), you can come for brunch, lunch or dinner. We’re open everyday from 10am until 11.30pm.”
