Laura Mvula comes to the O2 Academy Liverpool in May…

Since catapulting into the limelight with her critically acclaimed debut album, ‘Sing To The Moon’ and touring the world,  Laura Mvula is back and today announces her UK headline 2016 tour, kicking off in Leeds on 14th May 2016 and coming to Liverpool’s O2 Academy on 15th.

Laura’s latest single ‘Overcome’, featuring the legendary Nile Rodgers is taken from the new album ‘The Dreaming Room’ set for release on the 17th June through RCA Victor (Sony).

It’s rare to come across an artist with such undeniable uniqueness and music so lyrically poetic that it simply speaks for itself.

Produced By Troy Miller who has worked with the likes of Amy Winehouse, Mark Ronson and Rumer,  and co-produced by Laura, ’Overcome’ see’s Laura in a new found light – still reflecting her distinctive signature sound but showing the progression of an artist who has come into her own. 

Having formed a friendship through their love of music and each others work,  Laura initially sent Nile the first version of ‘Overcome’ and he loved it so much he asked to add some of his magic to the final version. Combining Nile’s upbeat sounds with Laura’s characteristic thrilling harmonies layered beneath stunning tribal beats may come as a surprise to many, but the final product is a true testament to both artists musical talents and a clear development from Laura’s debut album.

As one of the most exciting musical talents to come out of the UK, Laura has certainly come along way since writing songs at home on her laptop. Now critically acclaimed, her unique character and musical mind has broken the boundaries of music once again. 

As well as selling-out her first London headline show which is taking place next week at the Islington Assembly Hall, Laura will also be performing at the London Summer Series at Somerset House on 10th July.  Lots of other exciting live dates to be announced for 2016 so stay tuned!
