Liverpool FC and the LFC Foundation are set to host ‘Share Ramadan’, a free community event celebrating the holy month of Ramadan at Anfield this weekend.
On Sunday, April 7, Anfield will open its doors to 2800 people from diverse communities across the Liverpool City Region.
The event aims to bring people together to break their fast in a spirit of unity, with delicious food and collective prayer in an inclusive environment.
As part of Red Together, the club’s commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion, the event, which is being run in collaboration with the Liverpool Region Mosque Network, will provide a unique and vibrant meeting place for people from all backgrounds to share in the spirit of Ramadan, celebrating diversity and fostering a sense of togetherness.
Rishi Jain, director of Impact at Liverpool Football Club, said:
“It’s a privilege to be hosting the Share Ramadan event at Anfield and bringing people together to celebrate the rich heritage of our communities.Â
“Through Red Together, which is an integral part of The Red Way People Pillar, we are committed to making the club as inclusive and welcoming as possible and our work will continue to champion equality, diversity and inclusion across all that we do.”
Tawhid Islam, co-chair at Liverpool Region Mosque Network, the organisers of Share Ramadan, added:
“Share Ramadan is such a popular local event designed to resonate with every attendee, turning moments into memories from the shared laughter over a meal to the enriching conversations that emerge from new connections. It’s a unique opportunity to break their fast together, learn from one another, and celebrate the stories and values that connect us.”Â
LFC Foundation has worked alongside Liverpool Region Mosque Network for five years, helping to tackle food poverty and supporting local people and families struggling with the cost-of-living-crisis during Eid al-Adha and Christmas by providing food boxes.
Working alongside LFC to give back to fans and the local community as part of its ‘Glass and Half in Everyone’ generosity ethos, official club partner Cadbury will donate 3,000 Dairy Milk bars for attendees to enjoy.Â
