LIMF Academy & BBC Radio 1Xtra Team Up To Host Masterclass for Liverpool

Amazing news for local musicians as LIMF Academy partners up with BBC Radio 1Xtra on a range of media & music industry events specifically for young people in Liverpool ahead of 1Xtra Live – the station’s annual flagship live music event.

Supporting and developing local, homegrown Merseyside talent has always been key in LIMF’s mission statement, and the partnership with BBC 1Xtra highlights this dedication. The LIMF Academy is Liverpool International Music Festival’s award winning music talent development programme.

With a whole host of events running until Friday 7th October, 16-24 year olds will have the opportunity to learn all about the music industry from some of the biggest names in the business, with one of the highlights being the Music Biz 101 Masterclass happening on Oct 1st.

Previous artists supported by LIMF that have been showcased and developed through the Academy include MiC Lowry, who are just about to jet off on tour with Justin Beiber, Taya, XamVolo, Michael Seary and Little Grace, so you just know tickets for this free event will be snapped up in no time.

LIMF Academy will present the Music Biz 101 Masterclass that allows emerging music talent to find out everything they need to know about the music industry but didn’t know who to ask, from getting heard to getting paid, from how to source funding to how to be a successful independent artist.

The LIMF Academy Masterclass features some leading lights in the UK Music Industry including Chris Price (Head of Music at BBC Radio 1 & 1Xtra), A.Dot (Presenter and A&R), Steve Levine (Grammy Award Winning Music Producer), Chart topping producer/artist SG Lewis and Universal Music Publishings’ Dani Sawyer, alongside local music leaders such as Dave Monks (BBC Merseyside),Becky Ayres (Liverpool Sound City), Sam Turner (Bido Lito!) and Peter Guy (GetIntoThis).

The LIMF Academy Masterclass will also feature contributions from prominent national partners such UK Music, PRS for Music Foundation, Musician’s Union, Ditto Music and Help Musicians.

The event will take place at Constellations with applicants able to get free tickets from www.skiddle.com. Places are limited and are on a first come first served basis, available to 16-25 year old artists, bands and DJ/producers.
