LIMF Academy LIVE will showcase our city’s best upcoming musicians at Liverpool Philharmonic Hall

LIMF Academy LIVE will see local musicians LUNA, Raheem Alameen, KYAMI and Sub Blue perform with a full orchestra at Liverpool Philharmonic Hall on Thursday 31st January

LIMF Academy is an award-winning programme that provides emerging talent with unparalleled opportunities and help to launch their career. Aimed at artists, bands, producer-DJs between the ages 16-25 from across Merseyside, LIMF Academy develops new talent within the city with extensive support from top industry experts.

One such opportunity is LIMF Academy LIVE, which will see LIMF Academy 2018-2019 artists and Academy alumni perform one-off renditions of their original songs with The Ignition Orchestra, as well as cover versions of impactful songs from pioneering female artists.

First on the bill, LUNA’s classical vocal style and dark, glitch-esque production has seen her spotlighted as a rising star of the electronic pop scene. She’ll be joined by 22 year-old singer-songwriter Raheem Alameen and Kyami, a New York native whose quirky and unique take on contemporary R&B has helped her launch her career in the UK.

They’ll be joined by LIMF Academy alumni Sub Blue, who last year released his debut EP, Suburban View, which garnered radio support from BBC 1Xtra, Rinse FM and BBC 6Music.

Kate Gilston, LIMF Academy Project Manager said:

“Following the success of our first collaboration with Katie and the orchestra at LIMF 2016 we knew from then this has to be one of the key showcase performances as part of the Academy programme. It gives both the Academy artists and the artists in the orchestra the chance to play alongside talented musicians they would never normally in an every gig.”

Katie Chatburn, Musical Director and Arranger for The Ignition Orchestra comments:

“The tracks from the LIMF artists are brilliant – I can’t wait to pull it all together. For me, a big part of the experience is getting young people working together and bringing together different kinds of musicians into one space. It’s always a very creative and exciting process working with LIMF Academy, there’s always a real buzz – I’m sure it’s going to be a great night!”

Based in Manchester, The Ignition Orchestra are a vibrant and young collective of artists blending live orchestration with creative technology to create fresh and eclectic sounds led by MD and arranger Katie Chatburn.

Tickets are free and available via boxoffice.liverpoolphil.com.
