On Saturday 10 February at 2pm, Natalie Denny will be reading from her brand-new children’s book Keisha Jones is a Force of Nature at the Mansion House in Calderstones Park where UK-wide charity The Reader is based.

Natalie Denny was awarded the Merseyside Women of the Year Social Impact accolade in 2022 and included in BBC1xtra’s Future Figures 2023. Her creative education enterprise Skywriters won Best Start Up Business of the Year at the Merseyside Independent Business Awards.

Brimming with ideas and passion, Keisha’s determined to stamp down injustices and stand up for what she believes … even if it does lead to a spot of trouble. When Keisha discovers that the trees in a nearby park are going to be cut down to make way for a carpark, the Bee Squad has its next cause. It’s time for some green activism to save the VITs … that’s Very Important Trees!

Denny will be meeting young book lovers to answer their questions about her books and life as an author, as well as reading from her debut novel Keisha Jones Takes on the World.

The Reader’s dedicated play space for children The Storybarn, will also be hosting activity throughout the half-term inspired by Mac Barnett’s (The Wolf, The Duck & The Mouse) new book Twenty Questions. Children will be invited to make their own magic from their wildest curiosities with games, super storytelling and a shapeshifting crafts.
